Position: Assistant Editorial Producer, TED.com
Location: New York NY US
TED’s editorial team is looking for a detail-oriented copywriter and producer with an ear for language, boundless curiosity and an attitude of getting things done to assist in the day-to-day activities of TED.com’s digital media program. This is a great job if you’re very organized, a solid writer, comfortable in a fast-paced and collaborative environment, and passionate about TED’s mission of spreading ideas.
Post TED Talks to our website and platforms. Using our custom CMS and scheduling system, you will share responsibility for posting new content to our global audience throughout the day and week. You will also assist in managing TED’s YouTube channel, including uploading and publishing talks as well as creating YouTube playlists. You will build relationships with video, design and tech stakeholders within this mission-critical workflow.
Edit and publish talk transcripts as well as other subtitling tasks. Our meticulously checked English transcripts make our talks accessible to people and search engines, and they form the backbone of our translation project through which talks are subtitled into 100+ languages. You will help manage a small group of transcribers, and will edit, fact-check and sync the English transcripts they turn in; act as a liaison with our translation team; advise our developers as they maintain and improve our open-source translation tool; and advocate for transcription throughout the company as the need emerges on new projects.
Copywriting for TED.com. You will write headlines for TED Talks (collaborating to write up to seven headlines per week) and write three to five descriptions of talks per week; work with a team to write official TED Blog coverage of events throughout the year; and occasionally write articles that follow up on the work of TED speakers and the community.
Format and post footnotes, reading lists and other resources on TED Talk web pages. You will post annotations and updates to talks, including footnotes on research as well as new books, works, and papers that expand on speakers’ research. You will also flag important talk updates for you and other writers to blog about.
