The largest broadcaster in Hong Kong and the leader in Asian content production, Television Broadcasts Limited (TVB), has selected Imagine Communications Platinum IP3 routers to power the core routing capability in both the technical control rooms for the live studios and the Ultra HD-ready outside broadcast truck (UHD OB Unit).
“TVB is the biggest content producer in Hong Kong and a broadcast leader in Asia,” said Andy Hui, Sales Director for China and North Asia at Imagine Communications. “Our Platinum IP3 is now the core router for both the technical control room of TVB’s two largest live studios and its new UHD OB unit.”
The Platinum line IP3, the large enterprise-scale IP3 router integrates mixed-format video and audio routing, multiviewer functionality, mux/demux, frame sync and advanced I/O options such as MADI and fiber — all within a single, space-saving frame. And now with the addition of a module that provides a best-in-class, multichannel uncompressed over IP (UCIP) solution, the Platinum IP3 becomes the central gateway in a hybrid IP/SDI routing environment. The PX-UCIP module is an on-ramp/off-ramp solution that is installed directly into the Platinum IP3 frame.
Platinum IP3 delivers powerful capabilities:
- Seamless on-air expansion to matrices beyond 2Kx2K
- Integrated IP gateways, audio mux/demux, frame synchronizers, multiviewers, and more
- New control paradigm enables hybrid infrastructures — SD, HD, IP
- Dynamic setup and reconfiguration of system while on air
Offering limitless expansion options, exceptional on-air protection and a path to an IP routing future, Platinum IP3 is future-proofed to support Ultra High Definition (UHD) signals, and is ideal for a range of applications — from Outside Broadcast trucks that require large-scale routing, to multichannel video programming distributors, large national broadcasters or network hubs that require thousands of I/O.
“Since the 1990s, we have been working with Imagine Communications to deploy solutions such as baseband routers, processing, playout servers and automation systems,” said Andy Cheung, Chief Engineer, Engineering, TVB. “This time we chose Imagine Communications’ Platinum IP3 router to fulfill our signal routing needs.”
