VICE Interns will get a firsthand look into how an international media company functions on a day-to- day basis. At VICE, interns have the opportunity to learn about journalism, design, marketing, production, finance, and more. Intern positions are available in VICE’s New York and Los Angeles offices.
VICE’s Human Resources Department oversees the training and learning experience by providing interns with educational seminars and assistance in achieving goals throughout the session. VICE is dedicated to its internship program and students of all backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Applicants are recommended to submit cover letters indicating their topics of interest.
FALL SESSION DATES

To be considered for an internship at VICE applicants must possess and/or understand the following:
- Interns are paid at a standard competitive hourly rate, so proper work authorization is needed to be employed
- Must currently be enrolled in a college or university
- Interns can work a maximum of 20 hours per week during the fall session
- Commitment of 2 to 3 days per week is required for a 13-week period
- Interns must attend an Intern Orientation prior to starting
- Interns must possess their own personal laptop with Wi-Fi capability
Following is a brief description of each department within VICE that has openings and the internship opportunity requirement.
Interns at VICE on HBO & VICE News Tonight are a valued and critical part of the team. Interns support a wide variety of VICE News productions, from long-form documentaries, to recurring franchises, and breaking news. Interns will work closely with producers on researching, pitching, developing stories, and setting up logistics. Interns interact with all aspects of production and gain experience with a wide array of skills that translate directly over to journalism, film and international media. Interns will be an active part of the production process, from story development to episode delivery.
The VICE Production department supports and manages the organization’s wide-ranging and award-winning media. The team is looking for flexible interns who can multi-task with duties across all of VICE’s verticals. The ideal candidates will show strong interest in media along with skills in organization, communication, and adapting to the department’s workflow. Some daily responsibilities will include audio and video transcription, support for APs and Producers, research, and runs for supplies and shoots.
The post-production department of VICE works with editors, assistant editors, and post coordinators in handling footage from VICE shoots and creating stories from field material. Interns will learn the basics of assistant editing, transcoding footage, archiving, and post-production organization. Candidates should have a strong interest in video editing and using Adobe Premiere Pro.
The VICE Digital Production department supports and manages the organization’s wide-ranging and award-winning media. The team is looking for flexible interns who can multi-task with duties across all of VICE’s verticals. The ideal candidates will show strong interest in media along with skills in organization, communication, and adapting to the department’s workflow. Some daily responsibilities will include audio and video transcription, support for APs and Producers, research, and runs for supplies and shoots.
VICE Brand Studio
The VICE Brand Studio team supports and manages projects with clients. The team is looking for a flexible intern who can multi-task with duties. Some daily responsibilities will include research, casting outreach, administrative support, assisting with pre-production, and assisting with shoots. Interns will be given opportunities to learn about VICE post processes. Experience or schooling in film production is a plus.
VICELAND Branded Programs
The Branded Program team for VICELAND, VICE’s TV channel, handles programs for brands, agency partners and clients. The intern who joins our team will support in both pre-and post-sale program activities around these programs, which are rooted in custom creative production and media strategies. Daily responsibilities include but are not limited to owning tracking across pitches and active programs, helping to build decks and slides on request, updating systems we use with our joint venture counterparts at A+E Networks, and managing smaller programs with turnkey executions for the Network (e.g., custom branded Billboards that run in commercial time on the Network.).
VICELAND TV Development
Our TV Development department is looking for an intern to help with some daily responsibilities. The ideal candidate will show strong interest in media along with skills in organization, communication, and adapting to the department’s workflow. Some daily responsibilities will include conducting research to further develop internal pilot and series ideas including show formats, talent, and casting. Interns will also be required to brain storm new series ideas with dev team members, assist with keeping internal development tracking systems updated and assist with meeting notes, organization and distribution of research and development.
VICELAND Network Operations
The Network Operation department at VICELAND is responsible for the delivery of content both domestically and internationally. NetOps works as liaisos between production, post, programming and NOC, assuring that our shows deliver on time, to network standards and with all assigned specifications. NetOps also conducts and coordinates the quality control of all VICELAND longform material. The NetOps intern will get firsthand experience working with multiple parts of network television. The intern’s responsibilities will include vetting post-production calendars, tracking media, working with compliance editors and captioning outgoing content. An ideal candidate aspires to a career working for a major network or production company in a production management or post-production supervisor capacity.
This internship is designed for students who wish to learn more about the magazine publishing world and get hands-on experience in online and print media. We expect our interns to be serious, proactive, and professional. Tasks will include copyediting, research, fact-checking, transcriptions, and pitching and writing stories. Interns get training in basic functions for operating the backend of the website, and assist in setting up and managing web articles. Applicants should submit writing samples.
This internship is designed for current college students who are seeking experience in online media and are excited to learn about the day-to- day operations of a high- volume news and culture website. Tasks will include transcribing, researching, and fact- checking with the expectation that you will eventually pitch and write your own stories. Interns will receive training on our CMS to learn the basic functions for operating the backend of the website, and will be required to assist in setting up and manage short-form web articles. An ideal candidate would be engaged with the news, up-to- date on cultural happenings, funny, and punctual––not to mention familiar with vice.com and the work we routinely publish.
VICE Magazine is looking for a Photo Intern to assist with duties for both the printed magazine and vice.com. Responsibilities will include working directly with the photo editor to build web galleries, source exciting new talent and day-to- day production of shoots and follow through on invoicing. Candidates should ideally be interested in Photography or Fine Arts, organized and willing to learn.
The VICE Design team is looking for capable interns to learn about and try their hand at in-house production (i.e. print and online advertising, flyers, custom publications, promotional materials, CDs, DVDs, etc). Prospective interns should be pursuing a degree in Graphic Design or Advertising and should have basic knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. Skills in Aftereffects, Keynote, and PowerPoint are a plus.
The VICE Creative department is looking for an intern. Responsibilities include creative research, conceptualizing, developing, writing and visualizing ideas for branded content (including shows, events, micro-content, etc), writing treatments for shows/documentary films, creating mood-boards, supporting creatives, and junior creatives with pitches. Ideally interns should have a personal Portfolio showcasing their work (i.e. film, photography, illustration, advertising, writing, music etc.).
Our Marketing department focuses on the digital strategy and outreach aspects of everything VICE. Interest in social media, web-related marketing, and online strategy is required. We are looking for candidates who have taken marketing coursework or have previous marketing experience. Interns will assist in day-to- day execution of marketing campaigns across all channels and assist in a variety of tasks ranging from social strategy to social performance. The intern will also be responsible for administrative and organizational responsibilities with regards to marketing and will handle regular reporting and research projects for all VICE sites and releases.
Brand Connections/Media Strategy
VICE Brand Connections is looking for a Media Strategy Intern to assist in pre-sale and post-sale advertising opportunities. Interns will provide assistance to the marketing solutions department, and specifically to the brand connections team. Interns will also collaborate with teams across marketing solutions, and assist in the development of concepts, ideas and insights for brand campaigns. Other responsibilities will include maintaining frequently used materials and other collateral. Ideal candidates will be able to offer strategic thinking and recommendations for brand campaigns.
The Program Management department is looking for a detail-oriented self-starter. Interns will learn about client services and program execution by supporting program managers on ongoing and new programs. Interns will develop an understanding of client businesses, needs, expectations, and requirements. They will be expected to do everything from researching talent, to organizing important files and spreadsheets, to aiding in event production. Intern responsibilities will include organizing documents in the Program Management drive and migrating old programs over to the archive. Interns will also help ensure that programs run smoothly by aiding in research and organizational aspects of larger programs, provide assistance to the Program Management department and create schedules for important deliverable dates for clients. Interns can expect to sit in on creative brainstorms sessions and give feedback on designs or edits, suggesting talent, etc.
The Finance department is looking for a detail-oriented, numbers-obsessed intern. Interns will learn about finance and how to secure revenue by verifying receipts, reviewing invoices, and resolving discrepancies. Intern daily tasks will include working on account reconciliations, data entry, assisting in collections and Ad Hoc Tasks. Additional responsibilities will include providing accounting support, model buildout, deck/presentation buildout support, and administrative support. The ideal intern will be looking to hone their skills in accounts payable and accounts receivable within finance and accounting.
The tax department is looking for a bright individual who is interested in learning more about and potentially pursuing a career in tax. The Tax Intern will have a wonderful and rare opportunity to learn about domestic and international tax matters including tax planning, M&A, compliance and provision preparation, and all the different types of taxes that a multinational company must identify and comply with. The intern’s daily tasks will include assistance with tax return preparation, calculation of estimated tax amounts, correspond with taxing authorities, research and identification of tax incentives applicable to the film and television industry, and other critical tax department functions. We will also be looking for help on various special projects. This is a unique time to practice and learn more about tax.
Sales Operations is responsible for defining, building, and running the administrative and operational functions of the global sales teams at VICE. Sales Operations works with the sales teams to meet their targets, conduct performance reviews, and general sales enablement. The Sales Operations Intern will work on refining and updating VICE Media’s CRM platform, Salesforce, which is actively used by over 500 global salespeople. The Sales Operations intern will also work on refining and updating the Commercial Organization’s playbook and other onboarding and training sites and materials. Additionally there will be global research and organization projects. The ideal intern candidate will have familiarity with Salesforce or CRM platforms in general, is an excellent writer and communicator, is comfortable with excel and Google apps, and is highly organized. Fluency in a language other than English a plus.
The Business Strategy & Development organization at VICE Media, a group focused on profitable growth opportunities across the VICE Media portfolio, is looking for interns to support all aspects of the team’s function. The team addresses the most pressing challenges and opportunities across VICE’s existing businesses, and drives the development of emerging and new lines of business that leverage VICE’s unique set of assets and expertise. The group includes the company’s Business Intelligence team, which ensures the company’s short and long-term strategy is a direct result of data-informed decision making. The group is seeking candidates with strong research, analytics, excel, communication, and SQL skills.
VICE is looking for an intern to work with our music licensing team. The internship consists of helping source, organize and discover music for VICE content, and working with the licensing team on miscellaneous rights & clearances and music licensing tasks. Interest in music licensing and music publishing is a plus, but a good ear and a love for music are crucial!
