Ottawa ON – FileCatalyst, an Emmy® award-winning pioneer in managed file transfers and world leading accelerated file transfer solutions provider announced that ioGates have integrated FileCatalyst products into all of their workflows. ioGates, who was acquired by Broadcast Pix in October 2016, specializes in cloud-based video management solutions. After the acquisition, it was a natural decision for ioGates to expand their use of FileCatalyst products and integrate them with Broadcast Pix products. With ioGates being located in Denmark and Broadcast Pix in the US, this special integration sees both companies benefiting from FileCatalyst’s accelerated file transfer solutions, due to the geographical gap between them.
This FileCatalyst integration with Broadcast Pix products is done by installing a FileCatalyst HotFolder on every Broadcast Pix switcher. Users can then log into the ioGates cloud service and transfer files directly to any Broadcast Pix switcher in their deployment. Users can choose the file’s destination, all the way down to the project and clip store. Video or audio codecs that aren’t supported by the switcher are transcoded for compatibility prior to the transfer.
The FileCatalyst HotFolder uses a reverse proxy from behind the firewall, causing no security issues for clients. When the HotFolder discovers a new file on the ioGates FileCatalyst server, it pulls the file from the server and delivers it to its proper destination. As soon as the video is in the HotFolder, it’s ready for immediate playback.
ioGates also uses the FileCatalyst Software Development Kit (SDK) for their Upload app for iOS and Android. With this app, journalists have the ability to upload clips from a mobile device to the ioGates cloud service, where a FileCatalyst HotFolder automatically transcodes and pushes the files to the appropriate switcher. Normally this type of workflow would require a lot of manual work or a complicated integration between other services. ioGates makes this process very simple with the integration of FileCatalyst Central, which offers a centralized monitoring hub for all transfers.
“With the recent acquisition of ioGates by Broadcast Pix and the large distances between our locations, now is the time to expand our use of FileCatalyst and leverage the benefits of accelerated file transfers,” says Jesper Andersen, Chief Executive Officer of ioGates. “FileCatalyst is pleased to see the results ioGates customers are having in regards to the speed at which they ingest media to the cloud,” said Alan Atkinson, FileCatalyst, Vice President Marketing & Business Development. This new integration is exciting for both FileCatalyst and ioGates, and they look forward to what the future holds as integration partners.
