The National Association of Broadcasters has recently announced an OTT summit to take place on January 23 at their national headquarters in Washington, DC. The summit will feature NAB’s Pilot initiative, along with the Local Media Association (LMA) and the agenda will be to discuss the logistics of trying to incorporate Over The Top content into current working business models and how to use the OTT technology to further business aims and revenue solutions.
PILOT, formerly NAB Labs, is a coalition of innovators, educators and advocates dedicated to advancing broadcast technology and cultivating new media opportunities. PILOT propels broadcast television and radio into the future. It provides a platform for innovation, an engine for incubation, a venue for testing new technologies and a forum for broadcaster education.
The Local Media Association is a thriving and innovative association that serves local media companies (newspapers, TV, radio, directories, pure plays, and more) as well as research and development partners in the industry. LMA assists local media companies with the digital transition via cutting-edge programs, conferences, webinars, research and training. It is intensely focused on helping local media companies discover new and sustainable business models.
Nancy Lane, President of the Local Media Association, said that, “We are excited to join forces with PILOT to create this one-day summit that will focus on the opportunities with OTT. Together, we have identified a number of terrific case studies that we will share during this event. It’s a must-attend for any local media company that is considering an OTT strategy or has already implemented one.”
The OTT technology has been seen as a promising solution to further the distribution of content for just about all media industry players. The upcoming NAB sponsored summit expects to tackle such subjects as looking at where OTT models have been successful, revenue projections for such projects and the formulation of investment strategies for long term ROI.
