London, 11 October 2017 – TVT/DMC, one of the world’s fastest growing media services companies, has today announced the release of a new TVT report outlining the processes and support structures needed to achieve state-of-the-art content versioning, regulatory compliance and media asset management. The report offers broadcasters, on-demand service providers and other TV operators valuable insights into the systems and methods needed to successfully expand into rapidly growing international markets.

The report – entitled ‘The science of compliance and international content versioning’ – is the second in a two-part series looking at the forces driving opportunities in new markets, which include the rapid growth of over-the-top TV services. This paper, which gathers insight from TVT’s work for global clients such as A+E Networks, Discovery Communications, Netflix and the BBC, follows the journey content takes through the stages of ingest, preparation, compliance, craft edit and delivery. The paper offers a candid comparison of the strengths and weaknesses of both traditional in-house approaches and the use of managed content services.
The whitepaper looks at the ‘science’ of managing large media files and multiple versions of content, as well as overcoming other technical challenges to successfully meet the expectation of brands and viewers. Critical issues in compliance and local audience versioning highlighted in the whitepaper include:
- Finding the right workflow – With audiences increasing viewing time on mobile, video on demand and catch-up services, operators need new ways to streamline content processes to ensure it reaches the right platform as soon as possible after transmission – and in the right form
- Content on-boarding – Examines the best way to handle multiple legacy ingest methods, formats and standards while mitigating the need for capital investment in equipment and facilities, including tape libraries and petascale digital storage
- Media asset management – Looks at how cloud based technologies can help operators to ensure people are assigned jobs and provide access to different areas such as item validation, tracking, versioning and reporting.
