Position Description

We are looking for a qualified Videographer/Photographer to join our internal Marketing and Communications team. The ideal candidate will have experience capturing, producing and managing high quality, on-brand digital media assets. Day-to-day responsibilities involve managing a busy schedule that includes extensive photograph and video capture from multiple locations around campus; processing, editing, and selecting digital media assets; and contributing towards a variety of stories, social media content, and marketing-related projects. Candidates will interact directly with DigiPen staff, faculty, students, and alumni, as well as participate in group activities, meetings, and brainstorm sessions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Film and edit various video projects
  • Capture a wide range of photography (such as portraits, events and activities, still-life, and environments)
  • Proficient operation of a variety of cameras and all associated and related equipment
  • Process, edit, organize and manage digital media assets
  • Develop, specify and prepare media for print, web, and social media
  • Coordinate the audio/visual needs for on and off-site events and activities
  • Make decisions about, and successfully set up and use, field lighting equipment to achieve appropriate look and style for differing projects
  • Responsible for all post production tasks including review of footage, rough cuts, audio adjustment, color correction, and final editing using Adobe Premiere Pro and/or After Effects
  • Manage and maintain camera and video equipment inventory

Other Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Marketing and Communications staff to determine best practices and desired results
  • Take creative concepts and turn them into professional video and motion graphics
  • Ability to independently manage and execute multiple projects/ tasks of varying complexities with minimal supervision
  • Participate in team meetings and brainstorms
  • Communicate and interact positively with a variety of staff, faculty, campus guests, current students and alumni

Qualifications

Required

  • An online portfolio with samples of work demonstrating an expertise in photography and video production
  • Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of experience as a photographer and videographer
  • Advanced knowledge and experience using DSLR and digital video cameras
  • Advanced understanding of studio lighting, calibration and setup
  • Proficiency in digital technology and editing software packages (e.g. Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, After Effects, Photoshop)
  • Ability to spot and maximize photo opportunities at events
  • Expertise in AV equipment operation
  • Comfortable working with and photographing groups of all ages
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to show good judgment, strong attention to detail, and manage projects from beginning to end
  • Work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent time, project management and multitasking skills
  • Creative self-starter; able to follow direction

Preferred

  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud (Premiere Pro, After Effects, Illustrator, and Photoshop)
  • Motion graphic and animation skills
  • Passion for visual storytelling
  • Self-starter who can solve problems
  • Team player with refined and assertive leadership skills
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Personal transportation (this job may require occasional off-site trips to meet with interview subjects).

Work Schedule

  • Salaried, Monday-Friday, 40+ hours/week
  • Evenings and weekends may be required for event capture. Some travel may be needed on a case-by-case basis for events.
