Nikki talking to Felipe Santos and Edel Garcia at Glookast – GLOOKAST develops tools that solve the most challenging issues of today’s media production; they remove the complexity of capturing, sharing, managing, converting and distributing content through seamless integration across multiple platforms. So, where did their name come from? GLOOKAST = GLOO for “Glue” and KAST for “Broadcast.” Since their customers already had the tools to capture content (XDCAM HD, XDCAM EX, DVCPRO HD, AVC-I, uncompressed HD, HD/SD SDI, etc.) and they already had the storage for their media (local, SAN, NAS, Avid, etc.), what they needed was “glue” to ingest their content in multiple, simultaneous resolutions and the ability to deliver the media and metadata to their current storage devices. They provide that capability – and much MORE! Visit their site: www.glookast.com/

At the MTI Film booth, we check-out their dead pixel solutions… Current methods for identifying and correcting for dead pixels are time-consuming and expensive. The new Dead Pixel Correction feature of CORTEX Dailies Enterprise solves such problems quickly and automatically. MTI’s Dead Pixel Correction is based on proprietary technology developed through MTI Film’s expertise in digital film restoration. All CORTEX v 2.0 products will include Dead Pixel Detection, a tool for identifying dead pixels in camera media or in later rough cuts or assemblies. On set, this can give early warning about faults in the sensors of digital cinema cameras. Information about dead pixels can then be stored, along with corresponding timecode information and other metadata, in a CORTEX Manifest file so that it can be passed on to post production. Dead pixels, sometimes referred to as “stuck” or “hot” pixels, are a frequent problem in digital cinematography, the result of pixels in a camera’s sensor malfunctioning. “It’s very common,” says MTI Film Product Director Amy Hawthorne. “All cameras have some number of dead pixels and the problem worsens with usage, age and travel.” See more: www.mtifilm.com/

On the left, you’ll see Broadcast Beat Magazine up on the giant NAB Vision Wall! Just some proof that we were there (if you don’t tend to believe the multitude of pictures we’ve posted or the videos or the interviews…) And to the right – the giant Westgate Hotel sign, where the IAWTV Award Ceremony is being held! Of course, we are on our way there! I think Crew D is already there… how they got there before ME, I’ll NEVER know!!! Gotta run… See you there!!!

We came, we saw, we CONQUERED … NAB is OURS! The end of Day 3 and we have logged MANY HOURS at 2015 #NABShow already! And Day 4 (albeit a partial day) is upon us in the morn… For now, it’s off to the Red Carpet, where we KNOW that we’ll see some notables… while not as star-studded as the Emmys or the Oscars, there will be industry stars walking before us… Until tomorrow, when we hit the floor for the last time this year, get in a few good parties, and remember to stay blogged-in! Have a GREAT night – and we’ll see you on the floor tomorrow!
