2015 #NABShow – NovelSat to Showcase New Satellite Service Automation and Bandwidth Optimization Network Orchestrator

NovelSat Satellite Network Orchestrator automates network workflows for satellite services SLA assurance and BoD (Bandwidth-On-Demand) applications.

NovelSat, a world leader in satellite transmission technology, will showcase the new NovelSat Satellite Network Orchestrator (SNO) at the NAB 2015 Show in Las Vegas. At the show, NovelSat will focus on contention based bandwidth saving and fully automated SNG deployment.

NovelSat SNO, a major enhancement to the NovelSat offering, is a scalable platform that can be used to dynamically provision, manage and maintain services in satellite and mixed satellite-terrestrial communication networks. NovelSat SNO simultaneously optimizes bandwidth, enables fast and simple network segment and element reconfiguration, provides link assurance and essential NMS functionality for a wide range of satellite services.

NovelSat Satellite Network Orchestrator provides basic network management functions such as technology agnostic resource allocation, network/element monitoring, configuration and reporting. Furthermore, its intelligent network optimization functionality enables:

  • Satellite bandwidth management and performance analysis
  • Drag and drop network planning and provisioning
  • Automated workflow management
  • Bandwidth and service allocation on demand
  • Service activation and bandwidth allocation scheduling
  • Automated carrier power tracking and control

These and other features make NovelSat SNO a smart choice for applications including terrestrial link restoration, cellular backhaul and on-demand occasional satellite users such as DSNGs, flyaways and disaster recovery/first responders. Satellite service providers can benefit from the features of NovelSat SNO in a number of applications, including:

Dynamic Terrestrial Link Restoration – When NovelSat SNO is used to monitor and manage a mixed terrestrial and satellite network, an alert can instruct the system to dynamically allocate satellite bandwidth to backup terrestrial links that fail for whatever reason, be it power failure, equipment breakdown or cable cuts. The restoration bandwidth is managed as part of a pool for backup protection links.

Bandwidth on Demand (BoD) – Designed for occasional satellite users and other contention based fully automated remote satellite service applications, where satellite bandwidth is allocated in real-time. NovelSat SNO can receive a request from a remote unit and automatically allocate available bandwidth that is returned to the bandwidth pool once the transmission requirement has ended.

Bandwidth Optimization and Prioritization – Rather than allocating precious satellite bandwidth for full-time access, the platform can dynamically allocate satellite bandwidth to specific applications and customers so that service providers can meet their SLA requirements with the lowest possible bandwidth costs.

“NovelSat offers the most dynamic bandwidth-efficient satellite communication services available,” according to Oscar Glottmann, CMO for NovelSat. “The new NovelSat Satellite Network Orchestrator enhances this already impressive offering by helping satellite service providers to comply with customer SLAs, and to deliver bandwidth and resource optimization while saving money.”

More information about NovelSat SNO and scheduling a meeting with NovelSat management at the NAB Show in Las Vegas, April 13-16 can be found on the NovelSat website.
