Atomos announced the immediate availability of a new firmware update for its Ninja TX GO and Ninja TX monitor-recorders, unlocking Open Gate 48P RAW recording with the FUJIFILM GFX ETERNA 55 filmmaking camera. This update marks another milestone in Atomos’ ongoing commitment to empower filmmakers with greater creative freedom, flexibility, and professional-grade image quality.
The combination of the Ninja TX series and FUJIFILM’s first-ever large-sensor SDI camera offers unprecedented latitude in post-production. The Open Gate format captures the full sensor readout, preserving the camera’s native dynamic range and color science for true cinematic expression.

The new firmware enables the FUJIFILM GFX ETERNA 55 to record external RAW at 4:3 Open Gate, 4K, and up to 48fps for the first time. Additionally, support for RAW output allows for broader use across various filmmaking environments.
“We’re proud to deliver this powerful upgrade,” said Peter Barber, CEO of Atomos. “Adding support for Open Gate 48P RAW on FUJIFILM’s flagship filmmaking camera further solidifies the Ninja TX series as the go-to solution for digital cinema production, bridging cutting-edge camera technology and professional-grade monitoring and recording.”
Atomos recently announced camera control for Ninja TX GO and Ninja TX, whereby key camera functions can be easily managed from its large touchscreen monitor interface, including starting and stopping recording, as well as adjusting essential settings like ISO, shutter, and white balance. Atomos plans to add camera control for the FUJIFILM GFX ETERNA 55 camera in a future firmware update.
“We are delighted to see the GFX ETERNA 55 paired with the Atomos Ninja TX series in a way that fully unlocks the camera’s cinematic potential,” said Yujiro Igarashi, General Manager of Professional Imaging Group, FUJIFILM Imaging Solution Division. “Open Gate 48P RAW represents an exciting step forward for filmmakers who want to capture the full depth, detail, and character of our large-format sensor. This collaboration with Atomos continues our shared mission to give creators more flexibility, more capability, and more confidence on set.”

Both the GFX ETERNA 55 camera and the Ninja TX series use CFexpress Type B media, ensuring ultra-high-speed data transfer and sustained recording performance for demanding 48P RAW cinematic productions. This shared media standard provides filmmakers with a streamlined, robust, and reliable workflow, from capture to edit, without compromising speed, durability, or capacity.
Key Features of the Firmware Update:
- New firmware enables Atomos Ninja TX or Ninja TX GO monitor-recorders to record RAW output over HDMI or SDI from the FUJIFILM ETERNA 55 filmmaking camera.
- Supports external recording of 4:3 Open Gate, 4K RAW up to 48fps over HDMI, up to 29.97fps over SDI.
- The Open Gate format captures the full sensor readout, preserving the camera’s native dynamic range and color science for true cinematic expression.
