Once again, Blackmagic Design has proven itself as an ace provider of high-quality video products. The Chilean production company, AGTV, used Blackmagic Design’s workflow, which included the use of six URSA Broadcast Cameras in the production of their hit television series “Amor a la Catalán” for Canal 13, the second oldest TV station in Chile.
Blackmagic Design’s Cameras Provided AGTV Better Filming Quality
AGTV used Blackmagic Design‘s URSA Broadcast cameras to incorporate a higher production value into the television series while still keeping a flexible budget. The six URSA broadcast cameras were divided into two groups and by using three cameras at once in the studio, scenes were capable of being shot in just one take. This eliminated the possibility of reshoots and made capturing different angles and reactions from actors on set much easier. Unit two was set up for a “grab and go” use, with the cameras’ batteries always being charged, and this gave the crew the legroom to grab them as needed to shoot outdoor scenes.
The crew fully utilized the URSA Broadcast’s ability to shoot in 4K, as well as its rich colors and crisp images. The crew also used ATEM, which helped provide maximum efficiency for the crew during the production phase in having a camera control panel that helped monitor and adjust color balance, shutter speed, and more.
URSA Broadcast Cameras And ATEM Helped Create A Flexible Shooting Environment
In addition to using Blackmagic Design’s URSA Broadcast cameras, AGTV also used ATEM Television Studio Pro HD and ATEM Production Studio 4K live production switchers, a HyperDeck Studio Mini recorder for both camera units for additional recording, a SmartScope Duo 4K monitor, and an ATEM Talkback Converter 4K that enabled operators to remain in contact with the director while distancing themselves from the URSA Broadcasts. This allowed for uninterrupted action during the shooting process.
