ARRIS and Conax to Demo DASH Repackaging and Multi-DRM Encryption at 2015 #NABShow

Conax will host a joint demonstration of ARRIS Spectrum SDC software and Conax multi-DRM in delivering next generation IP video

ARRIS Group Inc and Conax today announced they will be demonstrating the joint capabilities of ARRIS’s DASH repackaging and Conax’ multi-DRM encryption at the annual NAB Show  in Las Vegas.

The demo will highlight a successful IP video delivery implementation for one of ARRIS’s principal customers in the Caribbean using ARRIS’s Spectrum SDC software. It features a collaboration with UXP Systems, and Conax—a leader in total service protection for digital TV and entertainment services—and represents the first production deployment of DASH using this ABR format. Attendees will be able to view the joint demo at Conax’ booth SU8517.

ARRIS’s Spectrum SDC enables service providers to reduce storage and delivery costs by removing the need to encode, encrypt and store each file in multiple formats. The demo will showcase how the solutions enable service providers to monitor and control each IP video stream, enabling increased per-session quality and security management through integration with Conax’ DRM technology and UXP Systems’ unified IPTV access.  By implementing this repackaging solution, providers will benefit from enhanced support for Smooth Streaming-to-DASH, using common encryption format.

ARRIS is collaborating with its customers around the world to invent the future of entertainment,” said Brian Collie, Vice President, Video Content Delivery at ARRIS. “We are pioneering those initiatives through software like Spectrum SDC. It’s setting a new standard for DASH repackaging that’s enabling service provider partners to realize new cost savings with IP video delivery and storage, while allowing its subscribers to enjoy seamless entertainment across multiple devices.”

“Supporting multiple DRM technologies is essential to reach all required devices for a TV everywhere service. Conax Contego supports PlayReady, Widevine, NAGRA PRM and Conax OTT Access, with Common Encryption (CENC) for a simplified and cost-effective workflow. We are excited to work with key industry players like ARRIS and UXP Systems to showcase how operators can benefit from this innovative DASH implementation software,” said Tom Jahr, EVP Products & Marketing, Conax. “The combination of our offerings will enhance the overall user experience, ultimately offering consumers greater support and flexibility for both IP devices and video services.”
