Duties: This position reports to the Director Of Engineering Operations and is required to work on any of the three 24/7 rotating shifts. In addition to overseeing the day to day shift responsibilities, the individual will be a main technical expert on the respective shift, and will assign work to engineers on the shift. This individual will be proficient in diagnosing and managing equipment failures such as automation systems, servers, router, On- Air transmit lines, etc. Manage the various technical systems, storage devices and automation to ensure the continued data protection of video/audio assets. The Shift Supervisor is required to communicate and oversee work assignments and shift handoffs along with project reports. Provide customer support for technical request. The Shift Supervisor will oversee and provide guidance to the day to day operations of Quality Control, Commercial Ingest and Maintenance responsibilities. Provide oversight and guidance to staff to insure the proper technical decisions are being made and departmental responsibilities/procedures are followed accordingly. Maintain technical skillset and perform Operations Engineering work as required. Constantly evaluate departmental workflow for process improvement. Coach/mentor staff and recognize them for their work. Effectively communicate department directives to staff. Provide feedback for mid-year and year end evaluations to upper level management. Clearly communicate and enforce departmental guidelines. Work closely with customer base to satisfy customer needs and request. Serve as liaison between Engineering Management, staff and customers. Cultivate cooperative relationships between customers and Engineering.
Qualifications: 3+ years of experience in engineering support or equivalent management/leadership role within a professional organization.
Minimum of 2 years with hands-on experience in broadcast engineering systems.
Be proficient in the use of broadcast related test equipment including, but not limited to, waveform monitors, vector scopes, multi-meters, oscilloscopes, test signal generators, spectrum analyzers, etc.
Ability to prioritize, multitask, make critical decisions on limited information, and direct the work of others in a high stress environment.
Demonstrate success in leading projects and or teams.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
