Technical support for a technology company is a big task. As an Audio Visual (AV) Design Engineer on the Event Production Engineering (EPEng) team, your mission is to enable the people and technology that keep Google running. Your team provides the front line user support for all of our internal tools and technologies. Beyond the day-to-day, the team will contribute to longer-term technical projects, process improvement and the documentation efforts that help make the Google magic happen.

You will play a key role in implementing some of the most innovative Broadcast/Event Production solutions within Google and the world. These are systems that represent cutting edge designs, in event production, live broadcast, public-facing auditoriums and Event Centers. You will be a part of a team that provides innovative solutions at a scale that is atypical in the event production industry. You will contribute to creating system standards that meet the performance needs of the Event Operations teams.

Design systems to team established and industry standards.

Create documentation for: wire diagrams, cable run lists, cable schedules, commissioning processes; Work with architects on space layouts and M/E requirements.

Stay up to date with industry trends and new technologies that we should be considering.

Set up, tune, configure and test custom event spaces, and understand all the tasks that are involved.

Perform formal Factory Acceptance Testing and Site Acceptance Testing (and/or Acceptance Test Procedure) handovers with third-party vendors, including management of punch list closeout through project opening.


Minimum qualifications:
BA/BS degree in Engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

7 years of experience in television broadcast industry, corporate event or equivalent industry.

Experience with Audio Video systems, video systems, theatrical lighting systems, audio systems, intercom matrices, KVM systems, digital audio systems; Experience with audio video production system design, system configuration and installations, in the U.S. and internationally.

Ability to travel 50% of the time (domestic and international).

Preferred qualifications:
Experience with mechanical/electrical needs as it related to event production spaces (Acoustical Requirements, optimal room orientations, lighting grids, power distribution).

AutoCAD 2D skills in relation to wiring diagrams, to scale custom panels, operator consoles, and architectural design.

Deep knowledge in IT networking hardware and software related to the Video and Audio Production industry.

Working knowledge of visual display parameters and how to configure them (i.e., color space Rec. 709 / Rec. 2020, brightness uniformity, CalMAN).
