Cantemo and Quantum Partner to Deliver End-to-End Media Content Workflow

First customer win at Guardian News & Media for Cantemo Portal and Quantum StorNext

STOCKHOLM, Sweden—September 12th, 2014—Cantemo today announced a new partnership with Quantum to enhance file-based workflows in the media production space and provide new levels of integration between Cantemo Portal™ and Quantums StorNext 5 platform.

By partnering with Quantum, Cantemo aims to transform the management and storage of media assets, address key industry challenges and deliver ground-breaking media production solutions. Today the combination of Quantums StorNext® high-performance storage and Cantemo Portal™ provides customers with comprehensive workflow management. Moving forward, Cantemo will be working closely with Quantum to:

     set new standards for integration between existing products;

     develop shared initiatives for research and collaboration;

     create enhanced opportunities for innovation; and

     enable the next wave of Cantemo media asset management solutions.

Cantemo Portal is enterprise-class asset management software able to support small workgroups on a single server or accommodate thousands of users and many nodes in different geographical locations. Core functionalities include feature-rich content management, extensive administration tools, access controls, and intricate metadata structures. It provides a uniquely customizable toolset, themed interface, and modular applications, including best-in-class integration with the leading NLEs.

The browser-based interface of Cantemo Portal provides users with a unified, platform-independent access point for searching, viewing, annotating, and editing assets. The combination of Cantemo Portal and StorNext 5 creates an environment where users can not only ingest, edit, and deliver content concurrently without dropping frames but also ensure assets are readily accessible over time. Granular control of the rules that govern the file system means more efficient utilization of each resource and a faster, more dynamic workflow.

Reflecting Quantums long-standing leadership position in media content storage and workflows, nearly a third of our current customer base uses StorNext for their Cantemo Portal Media Asset Management solution. As a result, were taking the natural next step of formalising our strategic partnership with Quantum as we both continue expanding our foothold in new and current markets. said Parham Azimi, CEO and Co-Founder, Cantemo.

Cantemos momentum is increasing across the media and entertainment market, and were excited about partnering to help users better leverage their valuable content, said Gabriel Chaher, vice president, EMEA Sales & Marketing, Quantum.  With StorNext 5 providing the storage foundation for the Portal architecture, our mutual customers can get even greater benefit from their investment in Cantemos solutions.

Quantums StorNext 5 platform provides the most advanced content workflow management in the industry, including best-in-class performance and scalability for file sharing and collaboration. It also offers fully automated, storage tiering that enables customers to match the most cost-effective storage medium with their data access requirements. In addition to tape, StorNext can archive content to Quantums Lattus extended online storage, a petabyte-scale, object storage-based solution that provides quick and easy access to content for reuse and re-monetisation.

In March Quantum introduced StorNext Pro Solutions, high-performance storage systems specifically configured to meet the requirements of post-production facilities and smaller broadcasters for refreshing aging Xsan environments, meeting new 4K workflow demands and supporting end-to-end content production and archive. In addition, the company recently announced StorNext Connect, a new tool set for simplifying the installation, discovery, management and monitoring of StorNext environments.

Key Customer Win at Guardian News & Media

Earlier this year systems integrator and reseller NMR won a six figure contract to upgrade the digital video infrastructure at Guardian News & Media (GNM), the leading global media organisation which publishes theguardian.com, as well as the Guardian and The Observer newspapers.

NMR upgraded GNM’s video content creation capabilities with a flexible and future-proof set-up based around Cantemo Portal and Quantum’s StorNext appliances. The current video editing and content creation technology will be replaced with a flexible platform based  on Cantemo Portal Enterprise DAM (Digital Asset Management) system.

A key component of the project has been the migration of the Final Cut Server content to Cantemo Portal to create a central repository that can be accessed by Guardian staff not only in London but also in other group offices around the world.
