Reporting to the Vice President, Operations the Director, Engineering is a key senior member of the Operations team staff reporting to and supporting the VP, Operations. The Director, Engineering is an engineering leader with technical depth and imagination; a high-level professional and manager with direct responsibility for the effective operation and oversight all building plant mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) systems and functions. Will lead and manage all facility related activities including building and grounds maintenance, engineering and code compliance.
This position manages, directs the performance of a staff of 10-12. Superior planning and executing skills are an essential qualification for this position with a motivating management style that produces positive results. In addition the Director, Engineering must have in depth knowledge of OSHA requirements, industry standard safety requirements and knowledge of local City and County ordinances, codes and permitting requirements.
Qualified candidates must have a four-year degree in Engineering (or a related field) or ten years of comprehensive work experience in a comparable position with large, modern building complexes or similar structures. Experience could be obtained in a college campus, hospital, or commercial environment. Experience should demonstrate possession of leadership skills to complete project objectives and to develop strategies for meeting them. The job involves management of a team and hiring and mentoring responsibilities.
