The Documentary Department at WNET is responsible for developing new ideas for documentaries, series, evaluating documentary proposals, working with filmmakers in the development of their projects, interacting with funding sources, web, station relations, publicity and programming teams at WNET, PBS and CPB in the development and roll out strategy of all documentary projects.
The Production Assistant is responsible for maintaining the project proposal data bank, screening proposals and making recommendations, supporting projects in progress, including packaging, generating talent contracts, tracking payments, researching stories for idea development and maintaining media databases, and submitting awards and festival entries as required. Additional responsibilities include:
Assist in all post-production activities, including coordination of materials from producers and between internal departments;
Executing PBS paperwork and delivery, and scheduling and overseeing post production and promotion edit sessions.
Administrative responsibilities including, arranging conferences/meetings, making travel arrangements and preparing expense reports.
Over time, the Production Assistant will be required to take on additional responsibilities in content evaluation, responding to producers, proposal writing and proofreading, and script fact-checking.
