The Cinema Audio Society (CAS) has officially opened the application window for the 2025 CAS Student Recognition Award. First introduced at the 51st CAS Awards, this annual honor includes a $5,000 cash prize and recognizes students who demonstrate exceptional passion and potential in the field of production or post-production sound mixing.
2025 CAS Student Recognition Award Timeline
- Entry Application Form available online: Monday, August 18, 2025 at www.cinemaaudiosociety.org
- Applications due online: Monday, November 10, 2025 by 5:00 p.m. PT (incomplete or partial applications will not be considered)
- Final nominees announced: Thursday, December 16, 2025 on the CAS website
- Final nominee interviews due: Friday, January 23, 2026
- Winner announced: Saturday, March 7, 2026, during a sealed envelope ceremony at the 62nd Annual CAS Awards
Applicants must be enrolled in good standing at an accredited college or university during any school term between January 1, 2025, and December 31, 2025. Both U.S. and international students are eligible, provided the institution is accredited. All materials must be submitted in English. Students may only compete for two consecutive years. Applications must be accompanied by a recommendation from a professor or instructor.
The winning student will receive the $5,000 CAS Student Recognition Award at the 62nd CAS Awards on March 7, 2026. All finalists will be invited as guests of CAS to attend the Awards ceremony (travel expenses not included) and will receive gift bags featuring tools of the trade from top audio manufacturers.
