London, England, April 7th, 2014 – Codex, the industry leader in uncompressed RAW recording and workflow technology, has announced a fully-supported workflow for RED EPIC DRAGON cameras, and will show this simple, no nonsense workflow using Codex Vault, during NAB 2014 at the Codex booth #C6048 and at RED’s booth #SL1519.
The new workflow for the EPIC DRAGON includes support of RED ROCKET-X hardware processing which opens up complete and efficient 4K workflows – clone, playback, QC, deliverables and archive – for productions wanting to deploy the very latest RED EPIC DRAGON cameras. Codex and RED have worked together to provide native Codex debayering for RED EPIC DRAGON RAW footage. RED material can now be fully-integrated into productions using Codex Backbone.
“RED again raises the bar on image acquisition innovation with the 6K DRAGON digital sensor,” said Jarred Land, president of RED Digital Cinema. “Now, Codex Vault delivers a solid platform for users to utilize this revolutionary digital camera technology.”
“We are delighted to collaborate with RED on workflow technology for RED cameras,” said Marc Dando, managing director of Codex. “Codex Vault now delivers a complete, fast and elegant workflow for RED EPIC DRAGON cameras from camera through to post.”
Codex Vault provides for a flexible, standalone workflow for digital productions. It can be deployed on-set or near-set and offers a simple and efficient way to process dailies for review, editorial, post production and archive. After original camera data has been cloned to Vault, metadata can be checked against camera reports and fixed or created as necessary. Data can be archived to LTO-6 tape using Vault’s Archive Module. Dailies deliverables can be transcoded and detailed production reports can be created, whilst the Review Module enables playback of material at up to 4K as well as QC and basic colour correction.
