Coherent Video Systems of El Dorado Hills, CA, demonstrated the capabilities of its new VIDIO FMC Development Module at this year’s SMPTE 2015 Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition. Coherent Video specializes in providing development solutions and Intellectual Property (IP) cores to broadcast equipment manufacturers to ease the transition to 4k and Video-over-IP.
The innovatively powerful and economical development platform (VIDIO FMC Development Module) uses the latest Texas Instruments SDI products to achieve the highest performance in video signal processing. VIDIO offers 12G SDI and IP interfaces supporting resolutions up to 4Kp60, on select Xilinx Ultrascale, Kintex, Virtex, and Zynq development boards. The VIDIO module features SDI I/O capable of any frequency from 270 Mb/s to 12 Gb/s, supporting video resolutions from SD to 4k. External reference input is provided as well. Unique to Coherent Video, the VIDIO uses full-size BNC connectors and supports an SFP+ cage capable of 1G/10G Ethernet (IP) or 12G SDI over fiber via 3rd party SFP+ modules.
With its affordable pricing of $495, the development module provides an efficient and versatile platform on which to develop new products. As 12G circuit development can be very daunting, Coherent Video also provides a full reference design including schematics, layouts, Gerber files, and an example FPGA project to make it easy for manufacturers to experiment with and develop 12G and video over IP products. In addition to hardware platforms, Coherent Video also offers FPGA IP cores for de-interlacing, scaling, noise reduction, image enhancement, frame rate conversion, etc., in both fixed function and running on a programmable processor core.
