The Digital
Content Specialist will work with the social media team to execute our Facebook
distribution strategy. You will understand the makeup of our audiences on our
various channels in order to successfully identify stories and content for
those audiences. You’ll be crafting teases and headlines that will entice
readers to engage with our content across our social platforms. You will also
work closely with the newsroom in terms of helping them understand the social
landscape and collaborate with them as well. From time to time, you’ll be
expected to do some writing as well. Catching on to what is trending on the
Internet and turning that around for our social channels will also be very
important. You’ll be held responsible for growing our social reach and be
counted on to come up with innovative ways to expand our audience. Are you

Job duties include, but
are not limited to:

· Crafting news alerts and updating the Palm Beach Post
news and mobile sites with a focus on speed and accuracy, SEO optimization, compelling
headlines, strong visuals, video, multimedia and contextual links

· The ability to identify and quickly aggregate news
items that will attract traffic to our website and social media platforms

· Frequently monitor, optimize and post content to our
social media platforms with a demonstrated ability to craft language in a voice
that will engage Facebook and Twitter audiences

· Monitor site metrics, data and internal reports to
drive decision-making in order to capitalize on audience behavior, growth and

· Check our website
and other sites frequently to make sure we stay competitive with both “hard
news” and “trending/viral” items. Alert editors, reporters and web staff
regarding any changes or updates we may need for existing stories, and flag any
stories we need to report or aggregate.

· Prioritize mobile
performance and view the mobile app and
mobile site in equal measure to the website

· Create, layout
and deploy email newsletters on deadline

· Regularly check
the site presentation across all platforms and make adjustments, if necessary

  • Maintain the
    journalistic, ethical and professional standards of the company whenever
    in the office, in public or on social media
  • Know and
    apply Palm Beach Post style and AP Style
  • Understand
    what constitutes plagiarism and adhere to libel law

Years of experience: Less than three years of experience in digital
content creation/production.
