Los Angeles, CA, Jan 10, 2023 — Today, the Entertainment Globalization Association (EGA) announced it will host its first LA-based conference specifically focused on the commercial and artistic impacts the localization industry makes on global entertainment consumption. CON-LO-CON will take place on April 13th and feature presentations and panels from industry thought leaders, renowned creatives, and academics, innovating, disrupting, and defining the global entertainment landscape.
“Our industry plays such a crucial role in sharing stories with the world, it’s great to have a forum where we can come together professionally and learn from and inspire each other to raise the bar on entertaining global audiences,” said Simon Jenkins, EGA’s President.
Speakers and panelists representing content owners, creatives, streaming platforms, linguists, applied scientists, industry analysts, and service providers will lead the single-day event. Topics will span technology, business, linguistics, and operations of the entertainment localization sector.
“We’re excited to offer stakeholders across the entertainment ecosystem a forum to look at the trends, innovations, opportunities, and impact that localization is having on unlocking great stories around the world,” said Cecilie Hammelev-Wethje, EGA’s Managing Director.
The event is open to the public with early-bird member and non-member pricing for a limited time. Space is limited and the event is expected to sell out.
EGA is a California-based trade association primarily focused on building a stronger connection with the creative talent that entrusts them to “retell” their stories for audiences in different cultures and languages. Their main areas of focus are creating standardization, conducting localization research, creating industry education opportunities and celebrating high-quality localization. The organization is narrowly focused on entertainment localization as defined by audio localization (dubbing), subtitling, audio description and graphic replacement for episodic, feature-length and gaming entertainment.
