The new AvediaStream Origin Server enables organizations to seamlessly stream content to mobile devices including smartphones, tablets and smart TVs as part of their enterprise IP video system
Exterity (NAB booth SU6825), the leading provider of enterprise IP video technologies for the secure distribution of live, on-demand and recorded video over IP, today announced the launch of its AvediaStream Origin Server at NAB (April 13-16, Las Vegas, NV). The server provides a gateway between multicast IPTV distribution and Over-The-Top (OTT) streaming protocols to enable content delivery to mobile devices, Internet attached devices and a wider range of network connected devices such as smart TVs and corporate thin-client systems.
The advent of OTT services has increased the number of protocols that professional IP video systems need to support to distribute content to multiple devices in real-time. The proliferation of devices used to access and stream video in corporate environments and public spaces such as airports, campuses, hospitals and hotels has also created additional challenges for IP video system providers, who have to ensure that their systems can ingest and distribute multiple video streams to unmanaged devices beyond the corporate LAN. The new Exterity AvediaStream Origin Server enables proAV installers and enterprise IP video system administrators to deploy a single solution to deliver IPTV and OTT streams to any device over WAN, Wi-Fi and the Internet.
“Cable, satellite and IPTV service providers are increasingly adding OTT services to their arsenal to offer more choice to their subscribers,” explained Colin Farquhar, CEO at Exterity. “By adding the Exterity AvediaStream Origin Server to our ‘Beyond the LAN’ product range, we enable proAV installers to easily respond to their customers’ demand for OTT distribution to mobile devices, future-proofing their professional IPTV systems for the video revolution which is transforming the way organizations consume content.”
“The traditional broadcast landscape is evolving at lightning speed, creating new opportunities and challenges for professional IPTV systems providers as they look to entertain, educate and inform their staff, guests and visitors. Launching the new AvediaStream Origin Server at NAB enables our professional customers to create solutions that deliver content to any device,” added JD Jones, Vice-President Americas at Exterity.
The AvediaStream Origin Server is the latest product in the Exterity ‘Beyond the LAN’ product range and complements the AvediaStream transcoders launched at ISE in Amsterdam, and the latest version of the Artio middleware platform showcased at CABSAT in Dubai earlier this year.
