FileCatalyst Brings Feature-Rich Update to Central and Direct

Ottawa, ONFileCatalyst, creator of Emmy® award winning accelerated file transfer solutions, announced the release of version 3.7 to their flagship product, FileCatalyst Direct. They have also released a 3.7 update to their centralized monitoring solution, FileCatalyst Central. Version 3.7 continues to provide business critical file transfers to their clients that are fast, reliable and secure regardless of size, latency or network conditions. The update adds even more to the already feature-rich suite and provides ease of use, functionality and improves the overall experience that makes it an award worthy solution.

FileCatalyst Direct is a suite of client and server applications that provides point-to-point accelerated file transfers at speeds of up to 10 Gbps. The 3.7 update allows users to leverage TranferAgent Express from within FileCatalyst Direct, allowing for easy ad-hoc file transfers. FileCatalyst Direct 3.7 also makes TransferAgent available via a web portal or via a system tray icon. The update has further improved TransferAgent by removing the need for administrator permissions when installing on Windows platforms, adding Linux support, as well the ability to install TransferAgent as a service.

FileCatalyst Direct 3.7 has also added an Avid Delivery plugin into its arsenal of features. With this plugin, users can easily deliver files over distributed Avid systems across a Wide Area Network (WAN) at accelerated speeds. External File System (EFS) support has been expanded and new drivers let clients connect a FileCatalyst Server to OpenStack Swift and Server Message Block (SMB)/Common Internet File System (CIFS) on the back end storage, in addition to existing Amazon S3 and Microsoft Azure storage.

With the FileCatalyst Central 3.7 update, administrators can view ongoing transfers in near real time, dig into transaction histories, manage or monitor alarms, manage nodes and initiate node-to-server transfers.

The addition of a new map overview for a client’s FileCatalyst deployment provides a new way to administer and monitor a deployment. The maps are fully configurable so clients can get a true geographic representation of their distributed system. Real-time and historical transfer statistics are now available for any node in 3.7. Statistics for groups of nodes are also available with 3.7, bringing more granularity to FileCatalyst Central and helping clients better identify traffic or usage patterns. FileCatalyst Central has also given higher visibility to nodes, tasks, sessions, last files transferred, alarms, bandwidth and other important statistics, all of which are now available at a glance.

FileCatalyst Central now gives administrators access, through an HTML interface, to FileCatalyst Servers and HotFolders from within FileCatalyst Central. FileCatalyst Central also now has the ability to manage TransferAgent with version 3.7. Administrators can configure or transfer files directly from the FileCatalyst Central web interface.

The FileCatalyst team is excited about this release and they are very happy with the positive reception it has had with customers. They look forward to what lies ahead for their products.
