Foccus Digital has provided Belden cables for the new SKY transmission center in the state of São Paulo. The new Jaguariúna Broadcast Center will meet the growing demand for channel capacity in Brazil and support the operations of DIRECTV in South America. The R$1.3 billion investment will be used to support current and future services of SKY, serve as a data center, and support the expansion of VOD services. The broadcast center is situated on 33 square kilometers, with new transmitting and receiving antennas and will include the launch of a new satellite called SKY B1. Jaguariúna will begin operating in the second quarter of 2016 in time for the transmission of the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
The Jaguariúna operation requires reliability and full availability, 24 hours a day, every day of the year. Belden was the only brand of cable technically approved by SKY’s engineering staff for the project. Foccus Digital delivered nearly 100 kilometers of Belden cables for digital video and audio applications to support the entire project infrastructure.
As the principal brand in broadcast, Belden is known worldwide for high performance, and proven reliability in permanent installations. SKY is a company that requires maximum reliability for its customers and by utilizing Belden cables they are assured quality, absolute signal integrity and no system downtime. Belden tests virtually every type of cable attribute, which means customers are always guaranteed a high quality product, which meets or exceeds the requirements of the market.
The Jaguariúna Broadcast Center will be one of the largest and most modern broadcast facilities in Latin America. SKY today offers between 230-250 channels and it is expected that this new investment will effectively triple their capacity and provide critical redundancy. Belden’s dedication to product innovation together with support from distributor Foccus Digital will be an important link for future networks and broadcasts within Brazil and in Latin America.
