The third annual Virtual Reality Festival will be happening from January 5-7 in Las Vegas and is an opportunity to glimpse the future of broadcast, film and video entertainment. There will e both an opening night and a closing night gala as well as many exhibitors, seminars and workshops on where VR is right now and where it is heading for the near future.
The Festival was started back in 2014 in Los Angeles but soon moved to Las Vegas just one year later. When it moved to Las Vegas, the organization teamed up with Extreme Tech Challenge and Mai Tai Global in a concerted effort to create a new type of global VR competition which was named the Extreme Virtual Reality Challenge. The winners of the competition get cash prizes as well as an opportunity to have their work displayed at Richard Branson’s VR Lounge on his private island.
According to VR Fest, the Virtual Reality Festival, “is a community based organization dedicated to the development and expansion of virtual reality, augmented reality and other immersive entertainment technologies for use by both studio and independent artists, technologists, content creators, game designers and their audiences. Through its live event and online programs, VRF seeks to introduce audiences around the globe to the magic and excitement of the virtual reality experience while shining the spotlight on the virtual pioneers who have paved the way for the future of entertainment.”
