London, 31st May 2016 – Groovy Gecko brought the first ever episode of new Fox International series, Outcast, to Facebook Live last week (20th May).
The show, from Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman, made history when it debuted simultaneously in 61 countries and 22 territories. The live stream gave viewers across the globe a sneak peek of the first episode of the new show, which is set to debut on Fox on 7th June.
The live stream made use of Groovy Gecko’s integration with the Facebook Live API. It enables quick and easy setup for streaming live into the platform.
“It is great to see broadcasters beginning to make use of Facebook Live to both deliver engaging content and help to promote programming,” commented Jake Ward, Business Development Director, Groovy Gecko. “We are likely to see a rise in broadcasters supplementing traditional delivery with web streaming to increase audience engagement.”
In another first, Fox recently used Facebook Live to promote X-Men: Apocalypse, which began international rollout on Sunday 22nd May. A global fan premiere in London was live streamed with over 700K views on the night.
