Our ideal producer will be a highly skilled communicator who is passionate about current events, and who is driven and proactive in their approach to work. We’re looking for someone with diverse experience who can understand and communicate issues from different points of view. They will produce a show or shows that discuss the issues of the day, relatable and compelling news, and matters important to family and community. Management will assign responsibilities on a regular and/or rotating basis depending upon need and proven capabilities and the need to provide expertise for the future.

Produce a highly engaging daily talk show

Research and contribute creative ideas on show development, topics, guests, format execution and station promotion

Strategically use digital elements to enhance audience experience and increase audience engagement

Regularly post to show’s social media accounts using varied and creative content

Coordinate with news producers, reporters and executive producer on breaking news updates and coverage

Able to work with show hosts in a deliberate, daily, intensive manner on story arc, engagement and presentation

Other duties as assigned

Track and verify breaking news, communicate to hosts and newsroom

Collaborate with the talk department on near and long-term planning; communicate strategy with department heads and help with implementation

Collaborate with department heads at weekly station strategy meeting to shape plans and promotion for upcoming week

Oversee the development and delivery of special talk show projects, including content, timelines, action items, and planning meetings

Oversee on-call producers, including recruitment, training and stay sharp shifts

College degree in communications, journalism, marketing or other relevant field. If no degree, 2 years relevant experience

Ability to produce talk show topics and support execution that is professional, timely and compelling

Knowledgeable and articulate in dealing with current affairs and the news of the day

Creative in use of sound, production elements, audience engagement and show ideas to build more interesting presentation

Proficient in Adobe Audition, Audacity, Premiere-Pro

Solid understanding of digital media, SEO tactics, podcasting and social media strategy

Enthusiasm for commercial talk radio

Flexible personality in order to connect news, programming and promotions

Self-motivated, creative individual who can also organize and consistently display good judgement

Ability to understand and execute format philosophy and work with a team of other professionals in creating a distinctive sound

Work effectively in a team environment

Proven ability to handle stress

Project an appropriate professional appearance and demeanor

Maintain positive and cooperative rapport with staff, management and clients

Possess the confidence to revise poor source material and take constructive criticism

Strong organization skills

Receive, process, and maintain information through oral and/or written communication effectively.

Substantial physical movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.

Ability to extend hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction with good eye and hand coordination.

Lift, move, and carry up to 20 pounds on occasion.
