Blackmagic Design one of the most innovated manufacturers in our industry today, announced that it will make the optical fiber connections on both the HD and Ultra HD studio cameras a user installed option which allows for the company to drop pricing for their award winning studio camera models!
Many customers provided feedback as to if this extra cost option could be released and excluded from the base model cameras and Blackmagic Design responded by dropping the prices by $300.00 for the HD model and $500.00 for the Ultra HD model! Lots of users utilize the regular 3G-SDI on HD connections and 12G-SDI up to 2160p60 on the Ultra HD model which is pretty much common practice if your not running an extremely long cable from camera to switcher- The nice option is that when the user decides to add optical fiber, they can purchase any SMPTE standard optical fiber SFP module and plug it into play.
The MSRP for the HD Blackmagic Studio Camera model is now $1,695 and the Ultra HD Blackmagic Studio Camera 4K model is now $2,495. Both models are available now, from Blackmagic Design resellers worldwide.
