Online music network Mahogany and social media platform VERO are giving one talented filmmaker the chance to win a £10,000 production budget. The fund provides aspiring filmmakers with the opportunity to create original content, a unique short film, and a ‘Mahogany Session’ promoted to a dedicated audience of 6 million users per month.
Commencing on Wednesday 14th November 2018 under the tag #discoverdonvero, the competition will run until Friday 23rd November 2018. Entrants will be given a series of written questions to expand on their chosen film idea, and must provide examples of previous work. The winning film concept will later be paired with an emerging musical talent, chosen by Mahogany and Vero networks. Aside from this condition, entries are open to any level of filmmaker with total creative freedom.
Patrick Greaves, Executive Producer at Mahogany, comments: “We’re really excited to launch this competition with VERO and provide a real budget for aspiring filmmakers to create something special. We’ve always been focused on empowering artists, directors and producers. We’re now in a position to use online broadcast platforms to do so, creating a diverse range of high calibre content, that can be sent directly to a global audience.”
As well as the chance to bring their original film concept to life, the lucky applicant will also produce a ‘Mahogany Session’ – an intimate, single-camera musical performance supported across the Mahogany and Vero networks. Over 500 Mahogany sessions have been published to date, featuring multi-platinum artists and unsigned stars alike. Now, working alongside VERO, the two online companies have decided to empower the next generation of filmmakers by creating a new production fund open to any level of filmmaker.

Entrants must use this unique competition link to create their own VERO page. From here, entrants can complete an application form to be considered for the £10,000 production budget. The form consists of five application questions, ranging from how you’d manage production finances to directors you’d like to emulate. Please include links to an online portfolio or previous work.
The winner will be announced on 26th November 2018 via the VERO and Mahogany social pages.
