Position: Manager, Photography and Multimedia

The Manager, Photography and Multimedia manages, plans and directs all photography and multimedia for the Division of University Advancement and University Relations and others as needed. This position works closely with multiple departments assisting staff and faculty across the university.

DUTIES

Serves as University photographer, producing and directing photography in coordination with various offices and departments

Produces photography for a variety of applications including editorial content, the UHD magazine, websites, and other marketing and communications collateral

Shoots photos of special events for the Division of University Advancement and University Relations and for the Office of the President

Serves as a producer for University Relations video and multimedia projects, coordinating talent, location, props, and production

Manages and trains technical staff and student assistants supporting photography and multimedia

Manages digital archives of University photography

Plans, evaluates, and recommends equipment and resources for the product and distribution of photography and multimedia

MARGINAL DUTIES

Performs all other duties as assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Direct Reports: Supervises part-time employees

Delegation of Work: Regularly assigns work to subordinate(s)

Supervision Given: Makes final decision on evaluating employee performance; hiring new employees; disciplinary actions;makes final decision on scheduling employee work hours; makes final decision on coaching and counseling; training; provides recommendations on handling employee grievances and complaints; and makes final decision on granting time off

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Knowledge:
Proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud or CS6, Photoshop, Photo Mechanic, Light Room and related creative applications

Broad understanding of cameras and camera control, shutter speeds, apertures, lens types, filters and effects; understanding of recording clear audio under different conditions; understanding of the principles lighting for video and photo production

Knowledge of trends, issues, and accepted practices relevant to the position

Skills:
Candidates must have strong analytical and problem solving skills, as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Abilities:
Ability to be flexible and adaptable to change

Ability to communicate tasks and ideas with a positive and constructive attitude

Ability to effectively communicate with a wide variety of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community.

WORK LOCATION AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Primary Work Location: Position works both indoors and outdoors, there may be hot or cold weather involved when working outdoors.

Physical Demands: Work is normally performed in a typical interior work environment, which does not subject the employee to any unpleasant elements

Position is physically comfortable; individual has discretion about sitting (50%) walking (25%), standing (25%), etc. Must lift and carry up to 60 lbs. Must push and pull up to 100 lbs. Occasionally stooping, kneeling, reaching and crouching. Must be able to climb and maintain balance. Must be able to see, color vision is required

Work environment involves minimal exposure to physical risks.

Qualifications

Required Education:
Baccalaureate degree

Required Experience:
Minimum of six (6) years of experience in photography

Two (2) years of experience working in Higher Education

Two (2) years of experience shooting photography at special events

License/Certification: None
