Maxx Digital releases Thunderbolt 2 Shared Storage System THUNDER SHARE 2.0

(Costa Mesa, California–March 10, 2014) Maxx Digital announced the release of the new Final Share shared storage system enter THUNDER SHARE 2.0 for professional video editors, that is based on the new Mac Pro server computer with Thunderbolt 2 technology. The new Mac Pro, running OS X Mavericks Server connects to a 16 bay Thunderbolt 2 drive chassis, that is capable of speeds up to 1300 MB/sec at RAID 0 and 1250 MB/sec at RAID 5. Networking to the client computers for shared storage is done with 10 Gigabit Ethernet, using off the shelf Cat6 cabling.

Client computers, such as an iMac or Mac Mini, running with standard Thunderbolt to 10 Gig Ethernet adaptors, offer connection speeds of over 650 MB/sec, making editing even 4K files no longer an issue. The network is backwards compatible to standard 1 Gig Ethernet, making it possible to connect a computer without a Thunderbolt to 10Gig adaptor, and still get about 100 MB/sec connection speed, which is more than enough for conventional 1080i HD video files such as Apple Pro Res 422 (HQ).
