Media Links’ New IP Media Gateway Will Be Showcased at 2020 NAB Show

Any well-crafted content needs some form of network transportation. Luckily, a company like Media Links has a handle on that. Networks that use equipment from Media Links are able to move uncompressed content in just a year in comparison to all other media content networks combined. Media Links’s reputation for high-quality, ultra-reliable networks illustrates how it can efficiently transport content for the most critical high-profile applications. This sophisticated transport service will be further demonstrated when it showcases its incredible line of products and solutions, including its new IP Media Gateway, the MDP3040 this April at the 2020 NAB Show.

About Media Links

For those unfamiliar with the company, Media Links has operated as a manufacturer and pioneer in media over IP transport technology. The company’s solutions have been used to build some of the world’s largest video and media transport networks, which include major installations in the USA, Europe, Japan, and Australia. One notable example can be found within the Telstra (Australia’s leading telecommunications and information services company) and how Media Links is providing their core media networking technology for their next-generation digital video network (DVN2) for broadcasting.

In addition to Telstra, Media Links’ IP-based technology has been used for soccer World Cups, winter and summer Olympic events, major US American Football events, Asian Games, and many other high-profile global sporting events since 2002. For each event, Media Links’ solutions have been used by major broadcasters to transport broadcast signals from these events to destinations around the globe. The company’s new IP Media Gateway should prove to be no exception.

The MDP3040 – IP Media Gateway

Media Links’ MDP3040 – IP Media Gateway is a dual-channel 4K UHD edge broadcast encoder/decoder that breaks new ground in the areas of performance, portability, and price. This IP Media Gateway uses advanced and efficient TICO compression. It converts incoming 12G-SDI video signals into IP encapsulated 3G-SDI streams that can be sent over WAN or studio LAN’s for decoding at the far end. This unit is built for high reliability and features robust Hitless protection over dual 10 Gbps trunks, forward error correction, and dual power supplies. The MDP3040 can also convert 12G-SDI feeds into TICO compressed 3G-SDI outputs, as well as send high bandwidth 4K signals over SDI baseband studio networks. The small form factor and portability of the unit make it ideal for smaller venues and short-run events and also space-constrained locations such as OB trucks and broadcast studios.

This unit’s additional key features include:

  • Compact and portable – small footprint
  • 12G SDI and HDMI output interfaces
  • High capacity 10G trunk interfaces
  • Standard BNC rear module for 12G SDI In/Out
  • Internal ID/Color Bar generator
