Highly configurable, adaptable fiber transport solutions recognized by engineers and industry experts at two leading publications
Hauppauge, NY, May 9, 2017 — MultiDyne Fiber Optic Solutions closed a highly successful 2017 NAB Show by securing two prestigious Best of Show Awards from NewBay Media for its new VB Series of flexible, modular fiber transport solutions. Reflecting the importance of adaptability across evolving fiber transport scenarios, MultiDyne was presented with the awards at the 2017 NAB Show from TV Technology (the digital television authority, serving the broadcast, cable, production, post production, business and new media markets) and Government Video (a resource for federal, military, state and local government media professionals.)
The VB Series is a high-density, compact and highly configurable platform engineering meet virtually any connectivity requirement. The VB Series is based on a common platform that is built to order from a diverse array of modules across video (including 12G and 4K), audio, genlock, timecode, GPIO, tally, serial data and Ethernet. Based on the model selected, the miniature card cage can house up to 18 cards, with options that include single- and dual-channel video; as well as 4×4 audio.
The thoughtful engineering was an important benefit associated with the awards. Instead of requiring a purpose-built product to meet a customer’s connectivity requirement, MultiDyne engineers can discretely test each module, and configure them into a finished product configuration for shipping within one week. This flexibility will also allow MultiDyne to build in future modules that extend beyond fiber transport and into conversion, including HDMI-to-SDI video; and AES-to-analog audio (and vice versa in both cases). Additionally, the platform will evolve to accommodate UHD scaling and signal conversions as the series expands, including conversions of 4K quad-link input signals to 12G and HDMI at the outputs.
The VB Series’ flexible design also offers unparalleled adaptability to the specifications of new camera models as they come to market. Several VB Series models already perfectly adapt to signals types and counts on POV and robotic PTZ cameras from Blackmagic Design, Canon and other manufacturers, ensuring a fiber transport solution that works right out of the box.
“The VB Series breaks the paradigm for signal density, granularity and flexibility of configuration within a common platform for broadcasters or content producers working in any live production scenario,” said Frank Jachetta, President, MultiDyne. “Winning two Best of Show Awards is a testament not only to the wide-reaching benefits of our products, but also to the efforts of MultiDyne’s talented research, development and engineering team. We are very appreciative of the recognition from each publication’s panel of judges.”
NewBay’s Best of Show Awards are evaluated by a panel of industry experts and are selected based on innovation, feature set, cost efficiency and performance in serving the industry. Winners receive an award for display and will be featured in the corresponding publications. All nominated products, winning or not, are also featured in the special Best of Show Awards Program Guide to be distributed in digital form after the convention.
“The products nominated for the Best of Show program, now in its fourth year, provide an outstanding overview of new technology on the show floor and shine a spotlight on the very best,” said NewBay Broadcast & Video Group Vice President & Group Publisher Eric Trabb.
With over 40 years of experience serving the Broadcasters and video production communities worldwide, MultiDyne Fiber Optic Systems leads the industry in developing pioneering signal conversion and fiber-optic-based transport systems for the broadcast, cable, satellite, production, digital cinema, pro A/V, corporate, retail, surveillance, teleconferencing, judicial arraignment, transportation, government, military, and healthcare markets.
