Earlier this month, the second annual National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) trade show and exhibition held in Shanghai was reported to be a huge success as attendance figures surpassed the inaugural show from last year. Attendance topped the 5,000 mark, which is an increase of 525% over last year’s show. The NAB show was held this past December 6-9 at the Shanghai National International Expo Center in Shanghai, China. The show was produced in conjunction with the International High Tech Cultural Device Cluster. The final numbers have yet to come in and the 5,000 mark is based on pre-show registration as well as walk in traffic.
For the first time in the show’s young history, there was a huge 50,000 square foot exhibition floor that featured 145 technology and media companies from around the world. Companies represented with booths included Akamai Technologies, NERC-DTV, MOG Technologies, B&H Photo Video, New Tek, Ricoh, Christie, and Sony as well as dozens of others.
The National Association of Broadcasters is the foremost advocacy organization for broadcasters everywhere and is highly active and visible in public affairs as well as always ready to advance the interests of its membership in regulatory and legislative arenas as well. They help their members, as well as the communities they serve, to be better prepared to take advantage of opportunities that arise in this new digital age.
The three day NAB Shanghai event played host to scores of demonstrations and innovations as well as seminars and special programs featuring such topics as; broadcasting, cable, virtual reality, filmmaking and production, over-the-top content development and production as well as 4K/Ultra High television production.
NAB’s Executive Vice President of Conventions and Business Operations, Chris Brown, said that, “This event plants the NAB and the NAB Show flag in one of the fastest growing media markets in the world. NAB Show Shanghai is taking off and reaching new heights as indicated by this year’s growth in attendance and exhibits. We look forward to continuing to develop this unique convention as it becomes the premier event of its kind.”
Much of the world was represented when it came time to speakers as top Chinese government officials spoke as well as technology and media professionals and experts from Taiwan, the United States of America, India, Hong Kong, Canada and the United Kingdom. There were also workshops, all were sold out, on such cutting edge subjects as the latest in software technology and development and how to maximize effort and efficiency to get more out of your productions.
The 2017 NAB Shanghai Show will take place June 13-15, 2017. The scheduling of the show has been perfectly aligned with The Shanghai International Film and Television Festival that will make next year’s event a striking and definite set of circles on your calendar.
