About the Job
The News Producer is responsible for finding and writing copy for news and current events on a daily basis. They will work closely with the research production assistant and news anchor to present the news in an articulate manner and ensure that we are reporting on current events. The News Producer is ultimately responsible for every aspect of the program format and what goes on the air.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Researching and writing news stories, breaking news, and current events.
Creates the program format and schedule.
Communicating with Director and Floor Director of program format and any changes.
Responsible for maintaining flow and order of the program while live on-air.
Responsible for scheduling interviewees for the program and communicating with them.
Education and Experience:
Journalism and/or Mass Communications degree preferred
3-5 years of experience in Live Broadcast Producing
Experience in writing News Reports for TV or Radio
A portfolio with examples of strong breaking, general, and feature news/program producing and/or writing
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must be self-motivated and responsible.
Must have high attention to detail and have good organizational skills.
Must have great communication skills and be articulate.
Must be able to handle sudden changes, such as breaking news.
Must be able to solve problems as challenges arise so productivity is not diminished.
Flexibility to work non-traditional hours, including weekends and holidays.
EQUIPMENT TO BE USED:
Intercom systems in control room
General computer use
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Must be able to sit for extended periods of time while performing duties.
Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds over head without assistance.
TYPICAL MENTAL DEMANDS:
Maintain focus and attention to detail throughout the work shift.
Changes often occur at the last minute, so applicant must be flexible.
Should be able to work well in a high-pressure TV Production environment and maintain an even temperament with a good attitude.
Normally inside, controlled atmosphere, but taping does occur outside occasionally.
Born again believer and must adhere to the doctrines of this organization as upheld by Kenneth and Gloria Copeland and their appointed representatives.
Must work well with others, as a team and according to Romans 16:17, must not cause dissension and division.
Must maintain a good attendance record.
