Nugen Audio has released MasterCheck 2, the latest version of its optimization tool designed to ensure consistent audio quality across various platforms. The new release expands MasterCheck's capabilities, making it suitable for stereo streaming as well as immersive audio delivery like Dolby Atmos.
Enhanced Functionality for Modern Workflows
The updated plug-in now supports up to 7.1.4 channels, allowing engineers to apply the same level of confidence and consistency to immersive content as they do with stereo masters. MasterCheck helps identify optimal balance between perceived loudness and musical dynamics by referencing industry-standard measurements such as Integrated Loudness, True Peak, PLR, and PSR.
Broader Streaming Support
To accommodate the growing streaming ecosystem, MasterCheck 2 includes additional presets for a wider range of platforms. This feature enables users to audition how loudness normalization and codec processing will impact their material on services such as Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, TIDAL, Bandcamp, and SoundCloud. Codec mode and Offset matching help pre-empt encoding artifacts, allowing engineers to make informed creative decisions earlier in the production process.
Improved User Interface and Compatibility
The plug-in features a redesigned, resizable interface that offers both portrait and landscape views, fitting seamlessly into any screen configuration or workflow. Under the hood, MasterCheck has been rewritten for optimized performance, stability, and compatibility with the latest digital audio workstations (DAWs) and operating systems.
“MasterCheck has always been about giving engineers clarity and confidence before their music reaches the outside world,” says Freddy Vinehill-Cliffe, Product Specialist at Nugen Audio. “This new version expands that philosophy to immersive formats and modern streaming realities, while maintaining the precision and transparency users rely on.”
MasterCheck 2 is available now from Nugen Audio and authorized resellers. The company will demonstrate the updated plug-in at NAMM 2026, where visitors can explore its role as a powerful reference, verification, and education tool for mastering engineers, mixers, producers, and artists.
