Huntsville, Alabama – PESA, a leading designer and manufacturer of streaming solutions as well as professional audio and video distribution products, and the RTA School of Media at Ryerson University in Toronto today announced the PESA Live multi-channel streaming video app will be available for download and use during the 2015 CIS National Men’s Final 8 Tournament at Ryerson’s Mattamy Athletic Centre (formerly the Maple Leaf Gardens) , March 12-15. Created in partnership with RTA and computer science students, the free app allows users to create a customizable video experience, with access to up to four simultaneous video feeds, synchronized audio content, and the option to live tweet during the games.
“This is a significant partnership for the RTA School of Media and PESA,” said Rick Grunberg, associate professor, RTA School of Media, who led the research project. “As a media school, it’s important for us to provide in-depth sports coverage, and this app allows us to innovate the way our audiences engage with live broadcasts and with each other.”
The free app for Android and iOS portable devices streams content to a unique quad screen display. Using an intuitive interface, attendees can select between different synchronized video sources to watch during a live event, plus access Twitter within the app without missing the presentation. RTA students produced multi-camera content and a promotional video for the product, while Ryerson computer science students helped to create the applications.
“PESA was thrilled with the Ryerson partnership,” added Howard Sutton, executive chairman of PESA. “PESA hired two full-time Ryerson graduates, which was not in the original plan, but we were so impressed with the quality of work, it changed our minds!”
The PESA Live app is part of the new PESA Live Services (PLS) system, which is built around the PESA Xstream streaming media appliance. The C58 allows up to five video and eight audio sources to be combined, synchronized, and mixed in real time without timing or latency issues. The PESA Live app also allows content producers to add logos and other branding to the video, as well as insert revenue generating advertising.
