Job Summary

The Salesforce Administrator will work within BYU Broadcasting to design, implement and manage a new Salesforce.com (SFDC) system. The purpose of the system is to meet organizational goals including: drive account creation, solicit user preferences, provide support, and increase audience engagement. The Salesforce Administrator will need to write code to integrate third party tools and internal systems. Additional code and configuration will be required to assist in building customer journey’s and provide business insight reports, measure audience trends, and evaluate the success of marketing engagement campaigns and related activities.

Essential Functions

– Create and Manage Changes to the System (40%)
– Lead all or portions of the functional components of a Salesforce.com project
– Lead or support defining and implementing practical business solutions based on Salesforce.com technology
– Research Salesforce.com capabilities as needed to suit business requirements, and provide gap analysis
– Proactively seek out and identify needed system changes
– Proactively gather feedback from users
– Manage system changes with minimal/no interruption to the user
– Communicate system changes to the users in advance so they understand the change and how to use it prior to implementation
– Modify the system to increase benefits and usability
– Understand the Salesforce.com data model and make modifications to support business requirements within the Salesforce.com suggested data structure
– Create and maintain fields, views, reports, dashboards, campaigns and other Salesforce.com objects and functions
– Create custom objects when necessary
– Maintain, enhance and create workflows, functions and configurations within the Salesforce.com environment
– Develop custom applications using software like apex, visualforce, JavaScript, AJAX, HTML, CSS
– Develop timelines for changes and meet deadlines
– Provide support functions as needed
– Provide engagement reports to executives as requested

Maintain System, Security and Integrity (10%)

– Manage Salesforce.com accounts in response to personnel changes
– Maintain security including sharing rules and security levels
– Design, Create and maintain user roles, profiles and hierarchies
– Monitor application storage usage and archive data as needed

User Assistance, Training, Adoption and Satisfaction (10%)

– Create and administer training to existing or new users/groups
– Provide one to one training to end users on an on-going basis
– Expand use of Salesforce.com – attend planning meetings, assist with determining if /how Salesforce.com can be used in new ways as opposed to purchasing a new internal system
– Assist management to create processes in Salesforce.com to help monitor activities, trends, engagement and lead
– Communicate regularly with internal user base regarding new features, enhancements and changes to the system
– Monitor usage and mentor users/groups needing assistance
– Continually seek ways to further enhance the end-user experience
– Be the organizational SME on Salesforce.com

Process Creation, Documentation and Maintenance (10%)

– Document company processes and workflows
– Develop process documentation and field maps

Data Quality, Migration and Maintenance (20%)

– Assist with migration from older systems/processes into Salesforce.com
– Monitor neglected Leads, Opportunities, Accounts, and Contacts as appropriate
– Import data as appropriate
– Monitor and manage exception logs for back end system integration with SFDC
– Monitor and improve data quality
– Ensure data integrity by merging duplicate Leads, Contacts, and Accounts; performing mass uploads and updates of data as required; Removing unnecessary fields and data; ensuring screens, fields and workflow have accurate names and reflect current workflow

Report and Dashboard Creation and Maintenance (10%)

– Create and maintain dashboards
– Create and maintain reports including folder maintenance
– Develop complex, macro driven reports to summarize system information for Senior Management



– Bachelor’s Degree or 4 years equivalent experience
– Experience working with clients and vendors developing solutions and supporting projects from requirements gathering to release management
– Application design and development experience
– Manage multiple assignments and deadlines


Salesforce.com administrator (CRM and Marketing Cloud)
– 2+ years as a Salesforce.com administrator and/or developer
– Experience integrating Salesforce.com with other applications
– Experience developing and customizing Salesforce.com application via web services, Apex, SOQL, Visual Force, Eclipse IDE, Data Loader, Reports and Dashboards

– Strong analytical and problem solving skills
– Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
– Ability to translate business and organizational goals into actionable items for system improvement
– Must be highly motivated self-starter, able to maintain poise under pressure
– Excellent organizational and time management skills
– Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment background check


– Business presentation skills a plus
– Experience with Apex and Visualforce development a plus
