Samsung Poised To Release Dramatic Update To Its Gear 360 Camera

a3While nothing official from the company has been announced, Samsung looks poised to release an all new update to its Gear 360 spherical virtual reality camera. While Samsung has not said anything publicly, it has filed with the FCC and will likely make a public announcement toward the end of the month when they plan on rolling out their new line of smart phones.

The original Gear 360 was introduced last summer by Samsung and while critics stated that the slow WiFi transfer rates were rather slow and its compatibility limited, analysts are looking forward to the possible improvement on those factors when the new update is introduced. The new features remain under wraps but the company has recently released its latest version of its Gear VR headset.

According to Samsung, the present model of the Gear 360 can,

  • Shoot near-4K videos and 30MP photos. Discover all the ways to tell your story from every angle.
  • Play videos back, edit them easily and share instantly. Do it all right on your compatible Galaxy smartphone or PC.

  • Shoot 3840 x 1920 high resolution videos or a 30 MP photo with the touch of a button. Day or night, the bright, 180°, F2.0 lenses capture clear, vivid content every time.
  • Two 180° wide-angle lenses take shots simultaneously. Automatically merge them to produce a seamless 360° image. You can stitch your creations on the spot with your phone, or edit them more fully on your PC.
  • Relive your favorite moments on your Galaxy smartphone or PC. Or go even deeper with the Gear VR, immersing yourself in 360° worlds.
