SolidAnim Introduces SolidTrack Unity & Announces Ross|SolidTrack Solution

SolidAnim, a leader in virtual production, has introduced the latest version of SolidTrack. SolidTrack has been utilized on films such as Warcraft, Gods of Egypt, Ghostbusters and Alice Through The Looking Glass, and television shows such as Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey and DaVinci’s Demons.

The new version of SolidTrack includes the rendering game engine, Unity.  The Unity 5 plug-in, developed by the SolidAnim team, receives tracking data from SolidTrack and matches it in a 3D environment.  The combination of SolidTrack’s camera tracking data with video game rendering engine enhances user creativity with the large panel of tools in Unity 5 and the friendly user interface of SolidTrack.

The combined solution enables augmented realities and delivers a high quality result, both to broadcasters and filmmakers.

Also Ross Video and SolidAnim have announced their innovative common solution: RossSolidTrack, which will be demonstrated in the Ross Video booth.

RossSolidTrack is a groundbreaking universal camera tracking system that can be used anytime, anywhere, and on anything. Based on a patented optical tracking technology, RossSolidtrack delivers accurate real-time tracking data for any camera, without the need for fixed markers or other complex and bulky infrastructure.

Ross will focus on broadcast and live production applications for this real-time camera tracking and pre-visualization solution, including the manufacturing and distribution of Ross SolidTrack systems.  Now Ross robotic systems including Furio RC, Cambot 500 and 600 can include tracking capabilities. Ross UX Virtual Camera Control (UXVCC) will enable users not using a Ross graphics system to easily work with SolidTrack.

SolidTrack is a real time camera tracking solution for recording camera moves and data logging of camera moves on the virtual set.  This simple yet versatile markerless camera tracking system for the film and broadcast industries addresses virtual production needs.  SolidTrack’s flexibility allows filmmakers to shoot both indoors and outdoors with the same high quality results.

SolidTrack brings a revolutionary approach of shooting providing a more ergonomic and intuitive solution. SolidTrack combines real-time camera tracking and augmented reality previsualizing VFX while shooting. Producers achieve greater control of VFX budgets and timescales, minimizing wastage and ensuring efficient delivery, from previz to the final movie or television show.  Comparing to traditional shooting methods, producers save approximately 30% time on a film or television show utilizing SolidTrack.

SolidTrack new version includes a box that gathers all tracking and other data in a single wire, which makes the organization of data and global information significantly easier.  In addition a new Genlock feature to genlock SolidTrack tracking data and the film camera has been implemented.  This two-way synchronization ensures there are no frame delays.

In addition to Gods of Egypt, SolidAnim’s SolidTrack system was utilized on Robert Zemekis’ critically acclaimed film, The Walk,  Emmy-nominated and Visual Effects Society winner Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey, the Alice Through The Looking Glass, Warcraft, and Ghostbusters films, and been selected by Lightstorm and Weta Digital for the next two Avatar sequels.
