The Sony Anycast: Touching on the Future of Live Production

With the IBC 2013 “Best of Production and Infrastructure” award category under its belt, The Sony AWS-750 Anycast Touch (all-in-one) live content production switcher is certainly “cutting edge” innovative technology!

The design and ease of set-up is an absolute highlight point to this advanced product line. The features to this compact and robust live production switcher is the incredible and intuitive touchscreen control which makes this system ideal for the educational, governmental, corporate, and house of worship production setup. The end user can utilize the tilt screen function for either a single large 15.6″ flat screen or dual screen setups displaying and separating the video, audio, and menu controls. The system can produce full HD (1920×1080) content with 10-bit processing as well as SD, or a mix of both at an extremely detailed picture quality. The system also combines a video switcher, audio mixer, special effects generator, PTZ camera control, a real-time streaming encoder (making it possible to stream live over the internet or dedicated network), image still store, character generator (text in 10 languages), and scale converter making a true all in one production powerhouse! Another nice feature is the end user can store the set-up information of all the attached video sources for those productions that are re-occurring, as well as, prepared scene lists that can be preloaded for the user to simply tap the 10.6″ control touch screen for simple switching.

The Anycast Touch also features 6 video inputs and 5 video outputs with 1920×1080 10-bit processing and 1080i/59.94, 50, 4801/59.94 and 576i/50 operations, making it seamless and easy to switch from computer and video sources. The stereo audio mixing functionality allows for mixing via touch panel fader which includes a built-in limiter/comp/EQ and audio delay adjustment featuring 6 stereo inputs and 3 stereo outputs. The internal recorder is equipped with a built-in 192GB capacity solid state drive with up to 10 hours of record time. Recorded files then can be exported and edited to several types of non-linear post editors. The recording format can be either XDCAM or MPEG HD with the recording source output either PGM or AUX. The other interfaces are LAN: 2x RJ-45, 100BASE-TX, and 1000BASE-T, as well as, 4x USB type A and USB 3.0 equivalent. The overall dimensions of the Sony Anycast Touch 750 is  16.3 x 3.7 x 13.2″ (41.5 x 9.5 x 33.6 cm), with the weight of the unit being under 14lbs.
