The purpose of this job description is to describe the authority, responsibilities, and duties of the Engineer.


The Engineer is selected and placed into the position by the EVP, Executive Creative Director. This position works under General Direction of the Engineering Director, providing overview of end result; Incumbent can use independent judgment and discretion to accomplish tasks. Follows Engineering Director’s task roadmaps, as well as plans/schedules/arranges own activities. Has latitude of discretion and judgment within scope of position. Develops solutions to moderately complex problems.

Overall Objective

The Engineer will work with the Engineering Director assisting in the maintenance of all technical aspects of the StudioZ Audio & Video Production facility.


Assist Engineering Director in implementing network structure and design including; installing applications, implementing file system shares, group policy objects, backup procedures, VPN config / maintenance, license server config / maintenance, render farm management, maintenance of various studio pipelines, and Active Directory layout according to the Engineering Director.

Resolve complex employee hardware and/or software issues and questions via telephone, email, or in person. Provide on-call phone support 24/7.

Monitoring network / sever performance and recommending improvements.

Support all studio employees with server restarts and password resets.

Diagnose problems with C4D, Maya, FCP, AE, Nuke, and Protools.

Organize storage of engineering inventory, and track its location when checked out.


2+ years experience in post production studio environment.

Passion for solving complex post production problems in a very high stress environment under a compressed timeline.

Must have a comprehensive understanding of both MAC & PC environments as well as fully understanding the integration between the two.

A strong understanding of computer hardware including cards and peripherals.

Familiarity with production / post production specific hardware including color accurate monitors, breakout boxes, digital cameras, 360 cameras, live streaming setups, multidisc storage arrays.

Strong Understanding of Final Cut Pro, Cinema 4D, Maya, Nuke, Render Farm Operation/Management, Adobe Creative Cloud.

Familiarity with Deadline render management software and its integration with numerous software platforms such as Maya, C4D, and Nuke.

Must be able to work flexible hours when necessary to cover production needs, including after hours and weekends.
