Sundance Institute partners with Aspera for fast, secure content delivery for the internationally acclaimed Sundance Film Festival

Aspera faspex helps Sundance manage 12,500 video submission from filmmakers all over the world

ARMONK, NY – February 9, 2015: IBM (NYSE: IBM) today announced that the Sundance Institute selected Aspera as an official partner of the Sundance Film Festival. Sundance chose Aspera faspexTM to enable independent filmmakers from all over the world to submit their work quickly, efficiently and securely for this year’s festival, which took place on January 22 – February 1 in Park City, Utah.

With over 50,000 attendees, the Sundance Film Festival is the world’s largest and most widely recognized independent film festival. It receives some 12,500 feature films and shorts from 40 countries in multiple formats. Sundance chose Aspera faspex to manage the huge volume of submissions, allowing the organizers to operate effectively under tight deadlines and collaborate with independent filmmakers across the globe.

“In the past we had to rely on delivery services and hard drives, or cross our fingers that the content delivered via FTP would make it to us in time as we battled large numbers of file re-sends,” said Dave Ginsberg, CTO at Sundance Institute. “Our partnership with Aspera and use of Aspera faspex for last-minute content delivery for this year’s Park City Festival has been amazing.”

Aspera faspex transformed the festival’s workflow by providing predictable results and achieving maximum speed, efficiency and security regardless of file size or type, transfer distance or network conditions. Users submitted their films using a standard web browser, and an email notification alerted Sundance administrators when content was received. The easy-to-use solution gave filmmakers peace of mind that their valued content would be delivered on time and with complete security.

“We’re honored to partner with the Sundance Institute and the Sundance Film Festival as they guide the global independent creative community to create and thrive as the next generation of storytellers,” said Dipak Chocha, director of sales – Los Angeles, Aspera. “Aspera faspex gives festival organizers and filmmakers an intuitive, efficient way to send, receive and share content from anywhere in the world.”
