After recently announcing Latin America distributor of Soliton systems, Palma International Technology and engineers from Foccus Digital coordinated with Televisa to provide live broadcasting coverage during Super Bowl 50 week in local host city Santa Clara and around the San Francisco Bay Area.
Televisa is one of the first major Latin American broadcasters to adopt and benefit from the exceptional transmission stability and efficiency provided by Smart-telecaster Zao H.265 encoder. The inclusion of the H.265/HEVC video compression standard and RASCOW technology guaranteed high quality video transmission in all localities, even under network congestion.
Soliton Systems manufactures the Smart-telecaster ZAO which is used for live events and news environments to stream live video content, over traditional mobile 3G or 4G networks, back to the broadcast and playout environment. The Smart-telecaster ZAO was the first global mobile H.265 hardware-based transmitter.
The Smart-telecaster Zao provided Televisa with a cost effective operation and ensured robust transmission over 3G/4G networks from the essential Super Bowl event locations.
The operational success during Super Bowl 50 has motivated Televisa to utilize the Smart-telecaster Zao encoder during the upcoming Copa America Centenario USA 2016. This will be the first time in history the tournament will be held outside of South America with 16 international soccer teams competing in 10 host cites across the United States. Televisa will be relying on the Smart-telecaster Zao’s pre-eminent portability and low-latency transmission in several host cities to highlight the activities of the Mexican National team.
The quality of cellular bonding technology in high traffic areas such as stadiums can present a substantial challenge during live sporting events. The Smart-telecaster Zao’s proprietary RASCOW technology dynamically adjusts video compression ratios and frame rates according to the bit rate providing extremely stable video/audio transmission under weak signal conditions. The proven performance and superior image quality of full HD is offering better quality content and transmission reliability with much lower bandwidth requirements. The ultimate benefit for Televisa and other international broadcasters is the ability to increase the quantity and quality of sports-related content for its viewers.
