We are seeking VC Engineer.

CITS represents IT transformation and innovation on a large project with the shared objective to sustain and optimize mission critical operations and provides full life-cycle O&M and Engineering support to EUCOM and AFRICOM. The role of the Video Conference Engineer is to provide a world class customer experience with every transaction. This position encompasses the end-to-end management of multimedia conferences (video, audio, web, streaming, etc.) from data entry to technical support. Under general supervision of the Data Center Manager, this position supports the event services needs of all B-F employees.

The VC Engineer will be responsible for operating and maintaining streaming, webinar, audio visual, and videoconferencing systems. This position will also work closely with other members of the IT Engineering, IT Operations, and Event Production teams. RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for coordinating with all necessary organizations to satisfy every VTC user request for multipoint, point-to-point, secure, and non-secure VTC conferences. Supervise the installation, operation and maintenance of endpoints including portable systems and software-based Cisco Movi/Jabber clients.

Oversee maintenance actions including inspections, service contracts, and upgrades. Perform visual inspections and testing weekly and before every use. Support monthly communication checks. Ensure VTC system components meet all user requirements.

Provide user training for call planning, scheduling process, and system controls and operations. Execute all aspects of VC including call setup, end user training, troubleshooting, and follow through on escalation of trouble incidents occurring during call. Lead or assist, as required, with the support (hands-on if necessary) of special events, high profile senior executive meetings, town halls requiring VC support. Manage, maintain and troubleshoot AV equipment/systems in integrated conference rooms including but not limited to control systems.

Troubleshoot, assess, and coordinate equipment and systems repair. Support 24×7 video conferencing needs, standard working hours (8:30-5:00) but with some early morning and late evening hours on an occasional basis. Create, update, and resolve Service Desk trouble tickets as assigned as well as monitoring work queue. Interface with technology vendors for equipment servicing, training, etc.

Analyze trends and root cause analysis of trouble tickets to assist in improvement of conference room performance. Assess business impact of serious/complex outages/problems and make recommendations collaborating with engineers and project managers.

Provide training and client support to end users in the operations of VTC systems. Maintain conference room integrity, perform regular preventive maintenance checks. Coordinate VTC activities with other Client groups as required (e.g., Corp Communications, Facilities, IT, etc.). Assist with bringing new rooms on line and interfacing with client personnel to implement scheduling and reporting procedures (overseeing room-readiness acceptance testing).

Install small or portable videoconference and non integrated AV hardware. Create and modify user documentation and standard operating procedures (SOPs) as required. Provide technical consultation, support, and act as lead contact for all VC operations and maintenance. Understand, adhere, and facilitate the adherence to Client’s SOPs.

Recommend measures to improve performance and increase efficiency. Must be able to research, present findings, and recommend new VC technology to upper management. Maintenance of Windows Media servers, in multicast and unicast configurations. Configuration of Cisco routing and switching equipment to support multicast broadcasts within an MPLS network Competencies: Extensive knowledge and experience with video-conferencing (VC) systems, products, components, and vendors.

Strong knowledge and experience in designing and installing integrated videoconference build-outs with competency in programming touch panel controllers and other equipment. Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to repair/replace parts as needed. Must possess superior organizational skills and detail orientation with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Ability to work both independently and as a team member.

Appreciation of cultural differences of global company and ability to work with multiple partners and colleagues throughout that environment. Customer service and detail oriented. Ability to meet recurring monthly deadlines. Some familiarity with audio-visual, collaborative tools, and imaging technology desired.

Strong Internet, networking, and data knowledge Working knowledge of the following technologies but not limited to: Controller systems (CRESTRON or similar) Desktop VTC Units (Tandberg and Polycom) Cisco’s Digital signage and Digital Media Manager HDMI Digital switching Lutron automatic lighting systems CODECs (Tandberg and Polycom) Working knowledge of WebEx, and Google Hangouts. The Technical Support Specialist is the second line of technical support for more complex issues. This position will provide real time trouble shooting support to all incoming calls. Must have strong technical knowledge of Polycom Systems, Tandberg/Cisco Systems, Creston, AMX and other audio and video technologies.

Strong working knowledge of H.320, H.323, SIP and TIP videoconferencing standards Troubleshooting of AV Conferencing systems Working experience with major videoconferencing equipment such as: Codec?s from Polycom, Legacy Tandberg, Cisco, Vidyo and Radvision etc. MCU and control systems from Polycom, Legacy Tandberg, Cisco, Vidyo and Radvision etc. ISDN Network Infrastructure and Implementation (BRI and T1)H.323 Endpoints, Gateways, MCU?s, and Gatekeepers Experience in Audio Visual Solutions including Videoconferencing, Multimedia, Distance Learning, Facility coordination or Networking systems preferred. CVE Certification preferred Skills and additional.

QUALIFICATIONS: 5 – 10 years experience in video conferencing operations support. 3 – 5 years audio visual experience, including control systems. Experience with Microsoft Windows based platform (including Microsoft Word and Excel). Experience with Web-based applications.

Foreign language skills a plus. Educated to a high school level required. A college (university) degree is preferred, or the equivalent in experience Vendor specific certifications on video conferencing systems a plus. Must have Secuirty + Must meet 8570 Must be able to pass TESA #CITS317
