Position: Video Production Coordinator

Position Summary: The Video Coordinator creates media played during game nights, including player spotlights, select sponsorships videos, community event pieces and tribute videos to enhance the in-arena fan experience. The Video Coordinator will execute all elements of producing the team videos including developing the story line, writing, filming, producing and editing with a strong emphasis in motion graphics and animations.

Essential Functions (Duties & Responsibilities**):

  • Develop thoughtful, entertaining storylines to capture a different angle of the Lakers (different than that of New Media)
  • Produce, shoot, and edit all videos shown in-arena on game night (including interviewing, audio mixing, lighting, and the use of a teleprompter)

o Lighting – Able to light a green screen set, interview set, and use on-camera lights

o Sound – Proficient in on-camera audio, sound mixing, wireless audio (lavaliere mics, handheld mics, boom mics, etc.)

o File Sharing – Ability to upload/download videos to various FTP sites, media servers, external hard drives, or by way of web-based file sharing services such as Box

  • Record the post-game press conference – send to New Media
  • Record and archive HD files on to AJA KiStor drives for Video Board feed during the game and organize for later use
  • Trouble shoot all files to ensure seamless viewing on video board, website, social media platforms, sponsors, and broadcast partners
  • Convert old video media (tape, DVD’s, etc.) to digital files on the computer for use in editing/archiving
  • Serve as the librarian for old footage and historian for preserving and converting years of old tape

o Brainstorm creative, interesting ways to leverage old footage

  • Consult with Corporate Partnerships on how to leverage in-game videos in sponsorship contracts

**Responsibilities subject to change based on organizational needs and direction from management.

Education (Required/ preferred): Bachelor’s degree in film production (required)

Previous experience:

  • A minimum of five to seven (5-7) years of work experience in film
  • Commercial and documentary experience (preferred)
  • Experience working in sports (preferred)

Technology:

  • Editing Software – Use of Adobe Creative Suite (After Effects, Premiere, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.)
  • Hardware – Daily use with machines such as audio/video routers, sound mixers, card readers, AJA Ki Stor platform, PROMISE RAID Storage, DROBO RAID Storage, LTO Archival Tape platform, Betacam deck, DVCAM/MiniDV deck, Mac Pro, and more
  • Ability to create and post motion graphics
  • Ability to create animations, motion graphics and 3D titles
  • Microsoft Office (including Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint & Windows)

Knowledge, skills, abilities:

  • A demonstrated ability to develop engaging, creative concepts for new stories
  • Knowledge of all types of file formats and the conversion process to get the correct formatted videos to our video board, website, social media platforms, sponsors, and broadcast partners
  • A self-starter who can adapt and deliver high-quality work products in an ever-changing environment
  • A passion for basketball and its history
  • Ability to conduct interviews, with a high attention to detail and accuracy – willing to go the extra mile to validate facts
  • Previous experience working with celebrities or professional sports players

Physical Demands: Must be able to lift a min of 25lbs. and be agile, in order to get the shot needed for videos.

Location: Downtown Los Angeles (STAPLES Center)

Travel: Less than 10% of time

Hours: Regular office hours (9am- 5:30pm M-F), plus all home games.
