What does it mean to be AI-First?

Call me an industry stalwart, but I’ve been on a mission latest to cut through some of the confusion on AI. I think too many are using the term AI a bit frivolously and want more people to understand what AI can do in the video and streaming space.

AI is a commonly used term in the video technology space today, but the actual impact and outcomes always appear loosely defined. What is being achieved? Are organizations more nimble or effective? With the Akta AI-First platform. It combines the power of AI and Cloud to not only automate, but also unify scheduling, streaming, monetization and broadcast workflows. Why are we different? Many of our engineers were working with AI at Google before any of us knew what the technology meant nor its impact.

Ok – so why is AI-First unique? Unlike the first-generation approaches that bolt-on third party AI APIs into a legacy feature set, Akta is built from the ground up with AI in mind. AI is a core component with one goal: making the media professional more productive by using AI to automate tasks that are either repetitive, difficult or time consuming.

Our solutions provide a fully automated next generation TV infrastructure with an AI controlled workflow. We include scheduling of digital live and FAST channels and a cloud live distribution matrix for thousands of channel and destination combinations. We also provide Live, VOD Management, and Monetization.  Our core strength is our ability to provide the most cutting edge solutions like AI-based scheduling and playout, cloud editing and syndication at extreme scale without skipping a beat on monetization and ad insertion.

Problems arise when broadcasters and content owners integrate solutions from multiple back-end vendors.  Not because of any fault of the media company, but integrating multiple products is usually the weakest and most time-consuming link in supporting operations.  Akta provides true integration – all the functionality in a single solution to drastically speed up deployments and upgrades and enables customers to streamline workflows.  One partner to support it all; one hand to shake.

Sample benefits and capability:

  • Auto identification of content and segments within video (i.e., ‘car chase’, ‘tarriff’s)
  • Automatic short descriptions of video, regardless of language. No more staff typing.
  • Metadata enrichment – automatically adding more context to clips (i.e. thunderstorm, lightning, or ad-contextual metadata – soda, drink, coke, milk)
  • Monitoring and self-healing of live channels – helping see/hear issues with live channels (loss of audio, black frame of video)
  • Fully automated and assisted programming – entire blocks of programming can be automated by AI (show me all car chases – build a FAST Car Chase Channel)

When AI is being introduced to today’s workflows, teams are able to do more with less, drive efficiency, and be more productive pieces of the larger chain. Akta is the AI-First video platform. Baking AI into our next generation cloud tools, we are committed to developing the most  innovative solutions to the converging worlds of broadcast, online streaming and monetization. We are laser-focused on creating the future of video, while helping media companies create, monetize and distribute content on any screen.  Leading media companies such as TelevisaUnivision, Nexstar, Fox, CBS trust Akta with their video.
