Foccus Digital was a key supplier for the transfer of FOX Sports operations from Cosme Velho in downtown Rio de Janeiro to their new, modern Barra da Tijuca facilities. The new FOX headquarters features three larger studios for the channel’s programs, 20 technical rooms, as well as cutting-edge editing islands and switchers for more dynamic and integrated transmissions. Throughout 2016, Foccus coordinated with FOX to integrate audio and video cables, including Belden Precision Video Cables models 1855A, 1694A and 7731A as well as Belden 9451 and 1800B precision audio cables for the new operation.
Included in the new cabling infrastructure were Belden Command, Instrumentation and Control Cables, plus Belden Ethernet Cables product lines 8135, 9539, 9543, 9455, 8459, 1533P and 7937A (Belden equivalent to Mohawk). Belden Connectors 1855ABHD3 and 1694ABHD3, in addition to Belden Compression Connectors for RG11 model SNSP11 and Mini DIN 2.0/3.2 and Mini BNC from partner COAX Connectors completed the project’s connectivity component.
Foccus Digital integrated a complete infrastructure solution including a wide range of tools, and supplies such as industrial couplings, BNC-BNC panels, DVI/HDMI/RCA/VGA connectors/adapters, compression/extraction tools, a variety of audio connectors, and protective connector covers, among other items. Foccus sourced all of the complementary products to integrate with the Belden solutions assuring high quality transmission, signal integrity and at the same time increasing Belden’s local competiveness.
The Barra da Tijuca facility structure follows the technological standards of the channel’s headquarters in the US and was designed to be both flexible and expandable. FOX Sports broadcasts 24 hours a day to millions of Brazilian customers and in 19 countries across the region. This new operation will rely on Belden’s high performance products for signal transmission that reliably met the most demanding standards for sound, video and streaming applications.
